If you’re after a new roll cage for your vehicle, it’s important to know which material is right for you when looking through the options on our website. We can provide an incredibly wide range of roll cages from UK manufacturer, Custom Cages, with many available in two different types of materials.
T45 & CDS are two materials, that both conform to FIA regulations, available on many roll cages manufactured from Custom Cages. High Tensile Carbon Manganese Steel (T45) is much stronger than CDS, to the point that if the metal was to deform, it would need almost double the force of that needed to deform CDS. T45 roll cages are also lighter than CDS roll cages, due to their thinner wall tube design, however, all these features come at a higher cost than roll cages made from CDS. Cold Drawn Seamless Carbon Steel (CDS) is the alternative to T45 and is used when the priority is minimising costs.
Now you know what the difference is between the materials, choosing which one is best for you is fairly simple. If a T45 roll cage is available & safety is your priority above all else, the T45 roll cage would be the best one for you. However, if you plan to race on a budget while still using all the necessary gear, the CDS roll cages will suit your needs!
