Here at GSM Performance, helping ensure your safety in motorsport events is our utmost priority. It’s no secret that a protective helmet is one of the most important pieces of safety equipment to use, as a result, it’s crucial that the companies producing them thoroughly test all of their designs & maximise their safety.
The latest issue of Professional Motorsport World features a fantastic article on the ever-evolving engineering behind the helmets that we provide from brands including Stilo & Sparco. We just had to share it, as we feel it really helps highlight the importance of helmets in the motorsport industry. Check out our exclusive preview of the article & be sure to pick up your copy in all good newsagents,
Back in 2009, Formula One driver, Felipe Massa, was racing in Hungary when a spring from his competitor’s vehicle collided with his helmet as he was travelling at 175mph. He sustained serious injuries, however, he remained in a stable condition & made a phenomenal recovery. Without the incredibly advanced helmet he was wearing at the time, which absorbed most of the impact, Massa’s incident would have proved fatal.
