New MOMO Pro Nomex Balaclava Now Available

MOMO has released a new balaclava for 2023, the Pro Nomex, and it is now on our website. It is an open face design in black or white, one size fits all, and approved to FIA 8856-2018.
We have also added two new Sparco balaclavas this year, the RW-10 Shield Pro and the RW-11 Evo, for drivers who want a lighter, more technical option.

The MOMO Pro Nomex balaclava
The Pro Nomex is MOMO's new balaclava for 2023. It is an open face style, comes in black or white, and is one size fits all. It is approved to FIA 8856-2018, the current FIA standard for racewear, and it works under both open face and full face helmets.
The fabric is a 180 gram soft-knit aramid, which is light, wicks moisture and breathes. It protects against direct heat and heat transfer, and gives some extra protection from smoke and fumes.
The stitching uses flat seams, so there are fewer ridges pressing into the head and face once the helmet is on. Over a long session that makes a real difference to comfort.
New from Sparco: RW-10 Shield Pro and RW-11 Evo
Sparco’s RW-10 Shield Pro and RW-11 Evo are also new for 2023. Both are lightweight balaclavas built from technical fabrics and approved to FIA 8856-2018. They use very flat seams to cut down pressure points and fatigue, and Sparco treats the fabric with its X-Cool finish, which is designed to feel cool against the skin.
The MOMO is the simpler, more affordable way to meet the standard. The Sparco pair suit drivers who spend long days in the car and want the lightest option.
Why wear a balaclava
A balaclava is the layer between your head and the helmet lining. In a fire it adds protection to the face, neck and head, and day to day it keeps sweat off the helmet lining. Many championships require an approved balaclava alongside the suit, gloves and boots, so check your own regulations.
