BC Racing BR Series Coilovers Explained

BR is the series most people end up on. Of the 1,415 BC Racing listings we carry, 1,245 are in BR, and every one of the 50 makes in the range has at least one BR fitment. If a customer asks which BC Racing coilover to go for and doesn’t have a specific brief, BR is the one I point at first.

It’s the mid-range kit: adjustable enough to set the car up properly, straightforward enough that you’re not paying for track-only features you’ll never touch on the road.

BC Racing BR listings by make (1,245 total, every one of the 50 makes in the range carries at least one)

What 30-way damping gets you

The 30 in BR’s name is the number of clicks on the damping adjuster. You can firm the car up for a trackday and wind it back off for the drive home, without lifting the car or swapping a spring. The strut and spring perch are one threaded assembly, so ride height adjusts by winding the collar, no parts to swap.

That’s the gap between BR and BC’s DS kit further down the range, which has the same height adjustment but fixed damping. Step up from BR and you’re into RM, an inverted strut aimed at track use and heavier cars, or HM, which adds a remote reservoir for sustained track and race work. BR sits in the middle of that spread, which is most of why it covers so much of the catalogue.

The makes BR covers

BMW carries the deepest BR range at 145 listings, then Toyota at 130 and Honda at 110. Volkswagen and Nissan are tied at 82, Mercedes sits at 68, Audi at 63. After that the range spreads thin across another 44 makes, everything from Ford and Subaru down to single listings for Ferrari, Lada and Jeep. The full breakdown is below.

A spread of what's in stock

A few examples of what’s actually live right now: the BMW M2 Competition, the Toyota Rav4, a Honda Civic and CRX fitment going back to the mid-80s, the VW Tiguan R, the Nissan Fairlady Z, the Mercedes C43 AMG, Audi’s S4 Avant, the Ford Fiesta ST, Subaru’s current Impreza, the Mazda 6, Mini’s Cooper with adaptive damping, and the Porsche 911 Carrera 997.2. All twelve are shown below, checked live against stock.

Final thoughts

If you’re on a BMW or a Toyota, our guides for those ranges go into the chassis-specific detail, since BR covers a big chunk of both. Every listing title tells you the drivetrain, the years and any strut or rear-end notes before you order, and if you’re not sure which fitment matches your car, ask before you buy rather than after.
