MOMO x Logitech G: Sim Racing Wheels Made Like The Real Ones

New to the store, four wheels for the Logitech G RS Wheel Hub

We get asked about sim wheels more than you would think for a shop that sells seats and harnesses. Usually it is someone who has a MOMO on the car and wants the same thing on the rig, and until now the answer was a lookalike from a gaming brand. MOMO are the official sim racing partner of Logitech G, and the four wheels they have built for the Logitech G RS Wheel Hub are made in the same factory, on the same aluminium frames, hand wrapped in the same microfibre as the wheels that go in real cars.

We have added all four to the store this week. Here is what they are, how they differ, and which one Garreth would put on his own rig.

  • Four wheels, all built by MOMO in Italy on aluminium frames with hand wrapped microfibre rims
  • Bolt straight onto the Logitech G RS Wheel Hub on the standard 6 x 70mm MOMO pattern
  • Two sizes: 320mm for GT and touring car driving, 290mm for formula and prototype
  • Light. 600g for the 320s and 400g for the 290, which matters on a direct drive base
  • Sim use only. They carry no horn button and are not for a road or track car

What MOMO have built

Four wheels, two sizes. The Sim GT 320 is the plain one: a 320mm rim, 40mm dish, black microfibre on black anodised spokes, or blue microfibre on silver spokes. The Sim GT-Racer 290 is the small one, 290mm and 38mm dish, in black or red microfibre. Above those sit the two GT-Pro 320s, which add a shaped grip and a yellow marker at 12 o’clock, and the Tracks version prints the outlines of the famous circuits into the grip.

All of them are drilled 6 x 70mm, which is the MOMO pattern, and they are designed to go straight onto the Logitech G RS Wheel Hub. The hub is sold separately by Logitech and carries the electronics; the MOMO wheel is the rim and spokes only, exactly as a road wheel would be.

Which one to buy

Garreth’s view is the same as it is for a real car: buy the size for the driving you do. If you spend your evenings in GT3 and touring cars, the 320 is right, and the GT-Pro with the shaped grip and the centre marker is worth the extra over the plain Sim GT because you feel the straight ahead without looking. If you are in single seaters and prototypes, the 290 is the one, and the lighter wheel lets a direct drive base move faster.

The Tracks is the GT-Pro with a print on the rim. It costs more for the artwork and nothing else, so that is a taste call. Cameron’s only warning is on the blue and red rims: microfibre marks with use the same way suede does on a real wheel, so the coloured ones will show wear sooner than black.

Why it matters that they are real MOMO wheels

A sim wheel from a gaming brand is usually a cast centre with a rubber or leatherette rim moulded round it. These are built the way MOMO build a Mod.78 or a Prototipo: an aluminium frame, the rim hand wrapped and glued in Italy, the spokes anodised. The rim section on the 320s is 35 x 25mm, which is close to what you hold in a GT car. If you have driven with a MOMO in a real car, your hands will know these.

It also means that when the rig gets sold, the wheel keeps its value. A MOMO is a MOMO.

Common questions

Yes. The hub carries the quick release and the electronics and it is sold separately by Logitech. The MOMO wheel is the rim and spokes, drilled 6 x 70mm to bolt onto it.

The bolt pattern is the standard MOMO one, so mechanically they bolt to any 6 x 70mm hub. They were designed with Logitech G for the RS hub, and that is the only fitment MOMO publish. If you are on a different base, ring us with the hub you have and we will tell you what we know.

No. The wheel has no electronics of its own. Buttons and paddles live on the hub.

No. MOMO are clear that these are sim wheels, not for road or track use. If you want the same shape in the car, the Mod.78, the Mod.02 and the Prototipo are the road and race wheels these are modelled on, and we stock all of them.

GT, touring car, rally and drift: 320. Formula and prototype: 290. The 290 is also the lighter wheel at 400g.
