Where the One S sits
I’m Cameron. The One S is the suit I’d recommend to any driver asking whether the Tecnica Evo is heavy enough to be the issue.
Both are three-layer OMP suits. Both carry FIA 8856-2018. The Tecnica Evo’s brief is comfort over a long stint; the One S’s brief is weight. OMP quotes the One S at around 1.3 kg depending on size. If you have been in a Tecnica Evo and want to reduce what you are wearing without moving to the One Evo X price, the One S is the step. If you have no specific complaint about the Tecnica Evo’s weight, the Tecnica Evo is the better-value suit at £841.20 inc VAT versus £1,116.
The boots and gloves carry the same Super Light ethos applied to each piece: a micro-injected boot sole for a more direct sole-to-pedal feel, external glove seams to reduce the material between your palm and the wheel. Neither is a marketing claim; both are measurable differences against the Tecnica Evo equivalent if you go looking for them.
Three layers, two different briefs
OMP’s Tecnica Evo carries the “Ultra Comfort” name and is built primarily for moisture management across a long stint. The One S carries “Super Light” and the fabric compound is lighter. Both are three-layer FIA 8856-2018 suits. The difference is what each one optimises for.

A matched set by design
OMP colour codes 071 and 249 run across the suit, boots and gloves. The boots and gloves share the same code designators as the suit colourways, so the matching is explicit, not approximate. Red (061) matches on boots and gloves. Silver (083) is suit-only.
The One S1: a note on approvals
The OMP One S1 (product 12973 on this site) carries FIA 8856-2000, not 8856-2018. It is a different product with a different homologation. If your series specifies 8856-2018, the suit on this page (product 12606) is the correct one. Check the homologation card if you are unsure which you have.
The suit
The OMP One S Race Suit (IA01851) is FIA 8856-2018. Three-layer Super Light construction with stretch panels and pre-curved sleeves. Four colourways: Black, Blue & Orange, Red, Silver. Sizes 46 to 64 in OMP’s European suit sizing.
The Super Light construction uses a lighter fabric compound than the Tecnica Evo. The weight difference is around 350 g depending on size. For most drivers this is not noticeable during a session. For a driver who has been in a heavier suit and found the weight specifically uncomfortable on a long circuit lap, it is worth the price difference. For a driver who has no specific complaint, it is not.

OMP calls these the One S racing “shoes” rather than boots, reflecting a lower-cut profile than the One Evo X boots. FIA 8856-2018 on all six colourways: Black & Yellow, Black, Fluorescent Yellow, Blue & Orange, Red, White.
The micro-injected sole is the primary construction difference from the Tecnica Evo’s equivalent. The injection moulding produces a thinner, firmer sole that transmits more pedal feedback than a composite construction. The bellows ankle carries forward from the Tecnica Evo boot: flexible without exposing the ankle joint.
A data note: the part number on our listing (15286) references the IC/822 designator. OMP’s current catalogue nomenclature for this product is IC0-0822-A03. The homologation approval is unchanged across both designators.
The gloves
The OMP One S Racing Gloves (IB0-0778-A01) carry FIA 8856-2018. Seven colourways: Navy Blue & Orange, Dark Blue & Cyan, Grey & Yellow, Fluorescent Yellow, Red, White, Black. Sizes XS to XXL.
External seams are the defining construction detail. The seam material sits on the outer surface of the glove, not inside the liner. The practical effect is less bulk between your palm and the wheel rim. On a circuit driver who relies on feel through the rim at low steering lock, the difference is legible. On a driver who grips hard and relies on leverage, it is less relevant.
The Dark Blue & Cyan colourway (body #305468, cyan accent #0f9ebc) does not match any suit colourway directly. It pairs well against Black or Silver suits if a contrast look is the intention. All other six colourways have a natural pairing in the suit range.

The OMP Tecnica Evo at £841.20 inc VAT is the most direct alternative. It carries the same FIA 8856-2018 approval and runs three-layer construction. What I’d actually buy
The One S is the right suit for a driver who has been in the Tecnica Evo and specifically found the weight uncomfortable. For a driver moving into this price bracket without that experience, start with the Tecnica Evo guide and work up the ladder from there. The £275 difference in suit price is real money.
On colourways: Blue & Orange (249) gives you the strongest three-piece match across suit, boots and gloves. Black (071) is the more versatile option if you want to swap accessories later. Silver is the most distinctive suit colourway in the OMP range at this tier; White boots and gloves give a clean read if you go that way.
Final thoughts
The boots and gloves are well-made pieces at their individual prices. The micro-injected sole and external seam construction are genuine differences from the Tecnica Evo equivalents, not cosmetic ones. At £228 for boots and £151.20 for gloves carrying FIA 8856-2018, the set holds up on its own merits, not just as a matching exercise.
The one thing to confirm before ordering is which colour code you are building around. 071 and 249 give you a full set with no compromises. Red (061) is clean. Silver needs a separate choice on boots and gloves, and that choice is worth making before you order, not after.
