The Alpinestars Atom race suit is back on display in the showroom for 2023, in several sizes, so you can come in, look at it properly and try it on. It has become one of our most asked-about suits, because it gives drivers an FIA 8856-2018 approval without the price of a top-level suit.
The suits on our rail are black, with white shoulder panels and contrasting Alpinestars logos. We have also been through the rest of our Alpinestars suits for the new season, and there are a few showroom offers worth knowing about.

Back on the rail for 2023
The Atom is aimed at club racers, sprint and hillclimb drivers and anyone buying a first FIA suit. Having several sizes on the rail makes a real difference, because suit sizing is about height and build together, and it is much easier to get right when you can put one on.
Garreth’s advice is to sit down in the suit as well as stand in it. A race suit is cut for the driving position, so it should feel right with your arms out and knees bent, which is where the Atom’s pre-curved arms and legs help.
What the Atom is
Alpinestars brought the Atom out for the 2022 season as its entry-level race suit. It is approved to FIA 8856-2018, the current standard, which asks for more heat and flame protection than the old 8856-2000 standard.
It is a two-layer suit, with a 100% aramid twill outer and a 100% aramid lining, and a combined fabric weight of 420 g/m2. Stretch panels give a close fit without restricting movement, and the arms and legs are pre-curved for the driving position.
The details are well thought out for a suit at this level. The shoulder seams are flat, so they do not press when you wear a HANS device. The collar is shaped with a soft stretch insert. There are thigh pockets and an adjustable waist belt to fine-tune the fit.

Our Alpinestars suits, updated for 2023
We have refreshed our whole Alpinestars FIA suit range with the models and changes released at the start of 2023. Every listing now sets out its FIA approval, how the suit is built and its safety features, so it is easier to compare one suit with another.
