What we have updated
Fireproof race suits are compulsory in most forms of motorsport. We have been through every Alpinestars suit on the site and brought each one up to date with the new options for 2023, its FIA approval and its safety features.
The two suits with new colours this year are the GP Race V2 and the Atom Graphic, and both look very well designed in the new colourways.
The Alpinestars Atom
The Atom is Alpinestars' entry level suit, and it meets the FIA 8856-2018 standard, the current homologation with its higher levels of heat and flame protection. It is good value for an FIA suit.
It has two layers: an outer shell of 100 per cent aramid twill and a 100 per cent aramid lining. The arms and legs are pre-curved, and stretch panels are placed where they help, so the suit fits close in the driving position without restricting movement.

The GP Race V2
The GP Race V2 is Alpinestars' popular mid range suit. The 2023 version carries the FIA 8856-2018 homologation, with improved heat and flame resistance over the older standard, and it gains new colour options this year.
Garreth's advice for anyone choosing between the Atom and the GP Race is to try both on in the driving position. Our guide on how to choose an FIA race suit explains the approval and how a suit should fit.
