We have updated all our Arai helmets for the 2023 season, with current information, FIA approvals and prices, and the range now includes Arai's GP-7 family.
Arai makes both open and full face helmets, in composite and in carbon, so there is a helmet in the range for a club racer and one for a driver who needs the highest FIA standard.

What we have updated
Every Arai helmet on our site now shows its current FIA approval, construction and price for the 2023 season. The range covers open face and full face helmets, and most models run through a wide spread of sizes, so there is a fit for most drivers.
The GP-7 family is the headline. It sits at the top of Arai’s car racing range, with a fibreglass version, a carbon version and the SRC ABP Carbon at the very top.
The Arai GP-7 SRC ABP Carbon
The GP-7 SRC ABP Carbon is built to FIA 8860-2018 ABP, the Advanced Ballistic Protection standard used at the top of the sport. Its shell is hand-laid carbon fibre, profiled to work with an FHR device, and it comes with HANS posts fitted.
SRC stands for Super Racing Carbon. Arai designs it to flex under impact without splintering, passing the energy to a multi-density inner shell that absorbs it. Inside there is a fire-resistant lining, emergency release cheek pads and a visor lever for easier opening.
The Arai GP-5W
Further down the range, the GP-5W is a mid-range full face clubman helmet. It is made using Arai’s Complex Laminate Construction, which keeps the shell durable and light, and it is approved to FIA 8859-2015 and Snell SA2015.
Its wide eye port gives a good view out, which is why it suits saloon and closed-cockpit racing. It has a fire-retardant lining, a Kevlar chin strap, and vents on the chin and top of the helmet.
Choosing an Arai
The first question is what your championship asks for. Many club series accept FIA 8859, while some top-level series require FIA 8860. Garreth’s advice is to check your regulations first, then choose on fit: a helmet that is too loose moves at speed, and one that is too tight is hard to live with over a race.
