FIA Motorsport seats are changing, are you prepared? From January 2014 all Motorsport seats will now be issued an FIA date stamp with an expiry date similar to how FIA Motorsport harnesses are issued. Up to this point FIA Motorsport seats have been issued with a date of production. So what’s the difference? If you purchased a seat in February and your seat was dated January then you would have had 5 years from January that year to use this seat at competition level.
With the new changes if you buy a seat in February, March or April for example all the seats will be dated with the same expiry date 5 years later. This means there are no more production dates, no more monthly count downs and a much easier way to issue and run Motorsport seats. Simply use your seat upto the end of the year your seats issued too.
All Motorsport seats that are pre-ordered for 2014 will be dated with Expiry dates in 2019 so if you get in early you will technically get 6 full years from your Motorsport seat!
