Why a Nova needs more brake
The Nova is light, but many of the cars still around have been modified: engine swaps, stickier tyres and track suspension all ask more of the brakes than the original set up was designed for. A bigger disc gives more leverage and more mass to soak up heat, and a four piston caliper gives a firmer, more consistent pedal.
That is what this kit is for: a Nova that is driven hard on the road or taken on track.
What is in the kit
The kit is complete for both front corners:
- 2 x Billet 4 radial calipers
- 2 x aluminium bells
- 2 x straight vane discs
- 2 x brackets
- Disc and bell hardware pack
- Bracket hardware pack
- EBC road pads, which can be upgraded
- DOT 5.1 brake fluid
- 2 x braided hoses, as an option

The Billet 4 calipers and discs
The Billet 4 is a four piston caliper machined from billet aluminium and radially mounted to a car specific bracket. It has integral dust seals, internal fluid transfer galleries and an anodised finish, red on this kit.
The discs are 300mm two piece rotors, with the friction ring bolted to an aluminium bell. Straight vane discs come as standard, and they can be upgraded to cross drilled or grooved faces. The bells, brackets and hardware are made for the Nova, which is why the kit bolts on in place of the original parts.
Garreth's advice with any big brake kit is to check the wheels first. Hi Spec calipers are wider than a standard sliding caliper, and this kit needs 16 inch wheels at least. Even then, fitment cannot be guaranteed with every wheel, so send us the wheel details and we will check.
Bed the new pads in gently before you use the brakes hard.

Ordering one
This kit is not listed on the GSM Performance site, but we supply it to order. Hi Spec make Billet 4 conversion kits for many other cars too, so if you are building something other than a Nova, ask us.
When you get in touch, tell us the car, what it is used for and the wheels you run, and whether you want the braided hoses and a pad upgrade.
Does the Hi Spec Billet 4 kit fit the Vauxhall Nova without modification?
Yes. The bells, brackets and hardware are made for the Nova, so the kit bolts on in place of the original parts.
What size wheels does the Nova kit need?
16 inch wheels at least, and clearance should still be checked for your wheel.
What calipers come in the kit?
Two Billet 4 radial calipers, four piston and machined from billet aluminium.
Can I buy the Nova kit from GSM Performance?
Yes. It is not listed on our site, but we supply it to order.
300mm discs and four piston calipers, made to bolt onto the Nova.
Tell us about the car and the wheels you run, and we will check the Hi Spec kit will fit before you order.
