MOMO Gear Knobs: The Whole Range, And Which One Fits Your Gearbox
New to the store: every MOMO gear knob, plus the hub accessories
For years the answer to "do you do the MOMO gear knob to match" was no, and it always felt daft with a thousand MOMO hubs on the shelf. That is fixed. We have added the whole MOMO gear knob range this week: the leather Anatomico, the Race in air leather, the machined SK50 and SK51, the Ultra to go with the Ultra wheel, and the wood Heritage knobs for the Heritage wheels.
The one thing that catches people out with a gear knob is reverse. Cameron's first question on the phone is always "do you lift a collar to get reverse?", because that decides which knob and which fitting kit you need. So this guide starts there.
- Twelve MOMO gear knobs listed, from the leather Anatomico to the wood Targa and Trofeo
- Every knob ships with its fitting kit, which covers the common gear lever threads
- Lift reverse gearboxes need the lift reverse version of the Race Air Leather Aluminium; the rest are standard shift
- Wood Heritage knobs pair with the Heritage, Legacy and Prototipo Heritage wheels; the Ultra knob pairs with the Ultra wheel
- The MOMO hub spacers, airbag resistor, retaining rings and centre ring are listed alongside

What is on this page
Standard shift or lift reverse: check this first
On most cars you push the lever into a gate to get reverse, sometimes pushing the whole lever down first. That is a standard shift and every MOMO knob on this page fits it. On a lot of VW group cars, and plenty of Fords and Vauxhalls, you lift a collar up under the knob to release reverse. That is lift reverse, and the knob has to be built for it because the collar has to move.
MOMO make one lift reverse knob, the Race Air Leather Aluminium in the lift reverse version, and a matching fitting kit. Fit a standard knob to a lift reverse car and you lose reverse. If you are not sure which you have, put your hand on the lever and ring us.

The range
The Anatomico is the leather one, shaped to the hand, in a short and a long height. The Race is the best seller: black air leather over an aluminium body, and the Aluminium version shows more of the metal. The SK50 is the race knob, a narrow aluminium column in six anodised colours, and the SK51 is the aluminium sphere in three. The Ultra has a microfibre finish and a sticker bomb collar in black, blue or red to match the Ultra wheel, and the Black Edition is the all black one.
Then the wood. The SK50 Heritage is the SK50 shape in gloss mahogany. The Targa and the Trofeo are layered mahogany and beech with a tobacco leather top: the Targa is short and round for a palm grip, the Trofeo is taller for three fingers.

Matching the knob to the wheel
Garreth’s rule is that the knob should agree with the wheel, not shout over it. A Heritage wheel, the Legacy, the Prototipo Heritage or the wood California, wants a wood knob: the Targa if you drive with an open hand, the Trofeo if you shift with your fingertips. The Ultra wheel has its own knob in the same finish and colour. A Mod.78 or a Corse 2.0 in a track car wants the SK50 in black or anthracite. And for a leather Prototipo or a Tuner on a road car, the Anatomico or the Race is the one that looks like it came with the car.

The Targa in layered wood for the Heritage wheels, and the Ultra with the blue collar for the Ultra wheel.
The hub accessories, also new
While we were at it we added the MOMO hub parts people ring us for. The hub spacer brings the wheel towards you when a MOMO hub sits deeper than the original wheel did; the eccentric spacer does the same and lifts the rim a little, which is the fix when a deep dish wheel is catching your knees or the stalks. The airbag resistor keeps the warning light out when a non airbag hub goes into a car that had an airbag wheel. The two retaining rings and the Corse and Champion screws are the small parts that go missing, and the carbon four button plate lets you mount switches on a race wheel without drilling it.
Common questions
Will a MOMO knob fit my gear lever?
The fitting kit that comes with every knob has threaded inserts and adaptors for the common lever sizes, so on most cars yes. If your lever is an odd size or the original knob is bonded on, ring us before you order.
I have a lift reverse gearbox. What can I have?
The Race Air Leather Aluminium in the lift reverse version, with the lift reverse fitting kit it comes with. It is the only MOMO knob built for a lift collar.
Are the wood knobs really wood?
Yes. The Targa and the Trofeo are layers of mahogany and beech sanded into bands, and the SK50 Heritage is mahogany with a gloss finish. They are made in Italy in the same workshop as the wood wheels.
Which knob is the heaviest?
The Race at 266g, then the Anatomico Long at 235g. The SK50 and SK51 are about 220g. A heavier knob takes a little effort out of the shift, which is why the Race sells.
Can I buy the fitting kit on its own?
Yes, both kits are listed separately, for a lost kit or for moving a knob between cars.
Cameron will sort out standard or lift reverse in a minute and Garreth will tell you which knob suits the wheel. Ring 0115 9893488.
The sizes, weights and our price are on each product page. Each knob comes with its fitting kit, so there is nothing else to add.
