New Alpinestars Tech 1 Race V3 Racing Gloves For 2023
Racewear news, January 2023
Alpinestars have released the Tech 1 Race V3 racing glove for 2023. It replaces the Tech 1 Race V2, with new colours and patterns, a new grip pattern on the palm and a fit that has been reworked for comfort.
We have the new V3 in black in the showroom, in sizes small to extra large, ready to try on. The old V2 has been discontinued, so the remaining V2 stock has gone on clearance.

What is new in the Tech 1 Race V3
The V3 is a redesign of the Tech 1 Race V2. The most obvious changes are the new colours and graphics, but the palm matters more: the grip print on the palm and fingers has a new pattern and extends further, for better grip and feel on the wheel.
The glove is approved to FIA 8856-2018 and SFI 3.3, so it can be used in any event that asks for FIA approved gloves.

Alpinestars have put a lot into comfort. The seams on the palm side sit on the outside, and the back of the hand is a single panel to keep seams to a minimum, which cuts down pressure points. The fingers and palm are pre-curved, so there is less material bunching up when gripping the wheel. The cuff is open with an elasticated wrist, which makes the gloves easy to get on and off.
Garreth’s advice with any race glove is to try it holding a wheel, not just with a flat hand. Our guide on how to choose FIA racing gloves covers sizing and approvals.

In the showroom this January
The new V3 is on display in black, sizes small to extra large, and can be tried on in the showroom. Because the Tech 1 Race V2 is discontinued, the V2 gloves we have left are on clearance, with the reduction already applied to the online listing, while stock lasts.
Two other Alpinestars pieces are on display with the gloves. The Stratos race suit is a two layer FIA approved suit in an aramid fabric, with fully floating arms for freedom of movement and flat Alpinestars epaulettes that work with HANS systems, including hybrid types.
The Race V3 balaclava was re-engineered for the 2020 season. It uses Lenzing FR flame resistant fibres, which breathe well, with flat seams and a relaxed fit, a double layer of fabric over the face and a hole for a drinks tube.
The rest of the Alpinestars kit
Fireproof gloves, boots and suits are compulsory in most forms of motorsport. Gloves protect the hands and give grip on the controls; racing boots have flame retardant linings and thin soles for pedal feel; fireproof underwear and balaclavas go under the suit as a further layer.
We carry Alpinestars in all four: gloves, boots, suits and balaclavas. If you are putting a full set together, our guide on choosing an FIA race suit is a good place to start.
Is the Alpinestars Tech 1 Race V3 glove FIA approved?
Yes. It is approved to FIA 8856-2018 and SFI 3.3.
What changed from the Tech 1 Race V2?
The V3 has new colours, a new and larger palm grip print, external palm seams, fewer seams on the back and pre-curved fingers.

The V3 in black in sizes small to extra large, alongside the Alpinestars Stratos suit and Race V3 balaclava.
What happened to the Tech 1 Race V2?
It was discontinued, and our remaining V2 gloves went on clearance while stock lasted.
An FIA glove built around comfort and grip, and well worth trying on.
