Garreth gave it one of his old cars to test: the silver 2004 Impreza WRX STI on this page, OV04 VJF. The checker had it down as a second generation Impreza straight away and came back with 26 parts.

We tried it on Garreth's old Impreza
OV04 VJF is one of Garreth's old cars, a 2004 Impreza WRX STI. Cameron typed the plate into the checker to see what it would make of it.
The car came back as a Subaru Impreza, 2000 to 2007, which is right: the 2004 STI is the second generation car. The parts come back one row per type, four at a time, with arrows to see the rest.
What it found for OV04 VJF
Cameron put OV04 VJF in and the answer was a Subaru Impreza, second generation, the 2000 to 2007 car. On the suspension side it listed 21 coilovers and 1 anti-roll bar kit, and there were 4 steering wheel boss kits.
That covers everything from a TEIN FLEX Z at £1,032 to a MOTON 3-way at £6,420. Cameron’s pick for an STI that is driven on the road and taken on the odd track day is the BC Racing BR, from £1,049, because it is fully height and damping adjustable and the dampers can be rebuilt. Garreth would spend the money on the AST 5100 Street at £3,012 if the car was going on track every month.

Questions
Do you keep my registration?
The plate is checked with DVSA to identify the car. A record of the lookup is kept for up to 13 months to help us improve the checker, and it is not linked to your name, email or account. If you save the car to your garage while signed in, the plate is kept with it until you remove the car.
What if my plate is not found?
Use “Or pick your car from a list” under the plate and choose the make and model yourself. If nothing comes up for your car, tell us what you are after and we will come back to you, or ring us on 0115 9893488.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The Find parts for your car page works the same on a phone. Each type of part is one row you swipe through, and the pictures and prices are big enough to read.
What is the difference between "fits" and "should fit"?
“Fits” means the part is listed for your car’s generation. “Should fit, we will confirm before dispatch” means it is listed for the model in general, so we check it against your car before it goes out. Either way, if you are unsure, ring 0115 9893488 with the plate.
