OMP Corsica OV Superleggero Wheel Added To Our Display

The OMP Corsica OV Superleggero is the newest wheel on our steering wheel display, and it is ready to try in the showroom.
It is a 350mm deep dish wheel, and it is different from everything else on the display in one important way: the grip. In place of a round or oval rim, the Corsica OV has a figure of eight section that gives your fingers a natural place to sit.

The figure of eight grip
The rim section on the Corsica OV is waisted, like a figure of eight, instead of a plain oval. That gives the fingers a groove to settle into, so your hands find the same position every time you take hold of the wheel. The rim is trimmed in suede, which grips well in gloves.
Grips like this divide opinion, and it is not something you can judge from a picture. That is the main reason we wanted one on the display. Garreth’s advice is to hold it for a minute, then pick up a standard Corsica and compare.
The Superleggero name means superlight. The spokes are black aluminium and drilled, and OMP quote the wheel as up to 40 per cent lighter than the standard Corsica. Less weight on the column makes the steering feel a little more immediate, which is most noticeable in a light car.
It is a competition wheel, made for saloon racing and rally cars, and it comes with a horn push.
A deep dish, 350mm wheel
At 350mm across with a 95mm dish, the Corsica OV brings the rim a long way towards the driver. That suits cars where the column sits far away, such as many rally cars, and cabins with enough room for a larger wheel.
The standard OMP Corsica has the same 95mm dish and comes in 330mm or 350mm, so at 350mm the position in the car is the same. The difference is the weight and the grip: the standard wheel has a conventional oval section and comes in leather or suede, with a choice of colours on the spokes, stitching and centre stripe. Our OMP steering wheel display
