OMP have launched a new range of karting underwear this year, the KS collection, and it is now on our site with full information and images.
The range is a set of matching pieces: a long sleeve top, a short sleeve top, shorts and a balaclava. All of them are made from Dryarn, a light fabric that moves sweat away from the skin, and they are designed to be worn under a kart suit.

What is in the OMP KS range
There are four pieces. The long sleeve top and short sleeve top go under the kart suit, the shorts complete the set, and the balaclava goes under the helmet. They are designed to match each other, so you can buy the full set in one go.
The balaclava comes in black or white. The tops and shorts come in three sizes, XS/S, M/L and XL/XXL, and the balaclava is one size.
Why Dryarn
A kart suit is warm, and karting is hard physical work, so the layer next to the skin does most of the job of keeping you comfortable. The KS range uses Dryarn, a very light fibre that draws sweat away from the skin instead of holding it. It is soft against the skin, which cuts down irritation over a long day.
The balaclava does the same job under the helmet. It keeps sweat off your face and out of the helmet lining, which helps you stay focused in a long race and keeps the helmet fresher.

Karting underwear, not fireproof
The KS range is for karting. It is a comfort and moisture layer, not fire rated racewear, and it is not FIA approved. If you race a car under FIA racewear rules, you need underwear approved to FIA 8856-2018, which is a different product. Our guide to FIA fireproof underwear covers what car racing asks for.
Garreth’s advice for karting is to buy more than one top. A dry top for the last heat of the day makes a noticeable difference.
