The OMP KJ-8 Evo
The KJ-8 Evo is a full face karting helmet with a composite shell, designed for younger kart drivers in classes where a lightweight CMR approved helmet is required. It is approved to Snell-FIA CMR 2016.
It is light, with a soft, highly breathable lining and vents placed to move air through the helmet. The strap is bordered and closes with a double D-ring, and the visor adjusts precisely and locks with an easy block system. OMP supplies it with a clear visor and a blue iridium visor, so there is an option for bright days and dull ones.
The helmet in the showroom is a size medium, which OMP rates at 56 to 57cm. That is the one we have reduced, for a limited time only.
The KJ-8 Evo also comes in XS, S and L, so a younger driver can move up a size as they grow. Our guide to measuring for a helmet shows how to take the measurement.
What CMR approval means
CMR helmets are made for younger kart drivers. They are lighter than adult helmets, to reduce the load on a young neck, and many junior karting classes ask for one. An adult helmet is not a substitute in a class that calls for CMR.
