Seats / Office chairs

Assemble the kit supplied for your seat

A racing office chair is a seat, adaptor, tilt mechanism, gas lift and caster base. Lay out the exact kit from your invoice before pressing anything together. Different seats do not share one universal set of instructions.

5 partsIn the load path
1 invoiceIdentifies the kit
0 drillingWithout approval
Level floorFor the first test
Leave the gas lift sealed

The cylinder is pressurised. Do not puncture, heat, open, grind or grip its body in a vice. If it is bent, leaking or damaged in transit, stop and contact us.

01 / Identification

Lay out the parts from your invoice

Do not combine two similar-looking chair kits.

PartWhat to checkReject if
Caster baseCorrect base and every socket intactCracked, bent or missing a socket
CastersAll the same type and stems undamagedA stem is loose, bent or the wrong size
Gas liftCorrect rating and no visible damageCylinder is dented, leaking or scored
Tilt plateControls and central taper intactLever, weld or mounting hole is damaged
Seat adaptorNamed for the seat or stated bolt patternHoles only align when forced
FastenersRight quantity, thread and lengthUnknown loose bolts substituted

Photograph the layout before assembly. If something is missing, the picture and five-digit invoice number let us check the original specification quickly.

02 / Lower assembly

Build the lower base without forcing it

Use the kit instructions for orientation.

1

Seat the casters

Press each correct stem squarely into its socket. Stop if a socket cracks or a caster remains loose.

2

Place the gas lift

Fit the specified end into the caster base. Keep oil and tools away from the cylinder body.

3

Add the covers

Fit any telescopic plastic cover in the order shown for the kit. It must not obstruct the lift.

4

Orient the tilt plate

Confirm which edge faces the front and where the controls should sit before adding adaptors.

Taper joints seat under load

Do not hammer the gas lift or add adhesive. If the correct taper will not sit squarely, separate the parts before applying body weight and contact us.

03 / Seat interface

Attach the adaptor without cutting the seat

The mounting inserts must be positively identified.

1

Read the seat label

Confirm the model on the invoice matches the seat in front of you.

2

Find the intended inserts

Use visible captive points or model-specific instructions. Do not cut fabric to search for a thread.

3

Fit the adaptor loosely

Start every specified fastener by hand before tightening any one corner. The bars should sit square.

4

Centre and tighten

Set the seat position, then tighten in stages to the kit torque. Recheck that no bolt has bottomed out.

Misaligned holes identify a problem

Do not pull the adaptor into position with the bolts. Confirm orientation, part number and insert pattern. Drilling the plate can weaken it and prevents us from checking whether the wrong kit was supplied.

04 / Handover

Test it gently before normal use

Keep hands clear of the tilt and lift mechanism.

Check on a level floor

  • All casters rotate and remain seated
  • Seat is centred over the base
  • No movement between seat and adaptor
  • Lift and tilt controls return freely
  • Chair stays stable through a small range of movement

Stop using it if

  • A caster lifts or pulls out
  • The seat shifts on the adaptor
  • The tilt plate clicks or bends
  • The gas lift drops without control
  • Any fastener loosens after the first test

Recheck the accessible fasteners after the first short use and at the interval in the kit instructions. An office chair is not a simulator rig or vehicle seat. Do not attach pedals, harnesses or external frames unless the product was designed for them.

05 / Questions

Common questions

Does every car seat fit an office-chair base?

No. The seat must have a compatible base-mount pattern or an approved adaptor supplied for the chair kit. A side-mounted shell normally needs a different interface.

Can I drill the office-chair plate to fit another seat?

Do not drill or slot the plate unless the kit supplier has approved that exact arrangement. The seat, adaptor, tilt mechanism, gas lift and base share the load.

How do I expose mounting points under the trim?

Use the instructions for the seat and kit. Do not cut upholstery by feel. Ask us to identify the insert location from the order and photographs.

How long does assembly take?

Allow enough time to identify every part and check it twice. The old page promised about half an hour, but different seats and adaptors need different work.

Can I open or repair the gas lift?

No. A gas lift is a pressurised component. Do not puncture, heat, dismantle or clamp the cylinder body. Replace a damaged unit with the specified part.

Why does the chair lean or wobble?

Stop using it. Check that the caster base, gas lift, tilt plate, adaptor bars and seat fasteners are seated correctly. If movement remains, send photographs and the invoice number.

What should I check before sitting down?

Confirm every fastener is present and tight to the kit instructions, the seat is centred, the tilt plate controls move freely and all casters are fully seated. Test it gently on a level floor.

What information does customer service need?

Send the five-digit invoice number, seat model and photographs of the base, tilt plate, adaptor and seat underside. That identifies which kit instructions apply.

The adaptor does not meet the seat

Do not drill it

Send the invoice number and photographs of the labels, plate, bars and seat underside. We will identify the correct orientation or missing part.
