Sparco Karting Suits For 2025: Kerb, Kerb Lady, Thunder And Prime-K

Kartwear news, September 2025

Our Sparco kart suit range for 2025 is four suits: the Kerb Advanced, the Kerb Advanced Lady, the Thunder Advanced and the Prime-K Advanced. They take over from the older Sparco kart suits, and every one of them is approved to FIA 8877-2022 Grade 1, the FIA's current standard for karting suits.

All four are two-layer suits built to resist abrasion, and they differ in fit, finish and colour choice. Here is how they compare, and how a kart suit differs from an FIA race suit for cars.

  • Four Sparco kart suits in our 2025 range
  • All approved to FIA 8877-2022 Grade 1
  • All two-layer construction
  • The Kerb Advanced Lady is cut for female drivers
  • The Prime-K Advanced is Sparco's top-level kart suit
  • Kart suits are not a substitute for an FIA race suit in a car

All four approved to FIA 8877-2022 Grade 1

FIA 8877-2022 is the FIA’s standard for karting suits, and Grade 1 is the higher of its two grades. Every suit in our 2025 Sparco range carries it, so whichever you choose meets the standard. Some series ask for Grade 1 and others accept Grade 2, so check your own regulations if you are not sure.

All four use a two-layer construction. In a kart the risk is sliding along the track or into a barrier, not fire, so the outer fabric is chosen for abrasion resistance. The Kerb and Thunder suits use Cordura for that outer layer.

The four suits

Kerb Advanced. A two-layer Cordura suit with perforated panels under the arms and along the inner leg for airflow, an elasticated lower back panel for comfort in the seat, and pre-shaped semi-floating sleeves. It comes in black and red, red and black, blue and yellow, or grey and yellow, in sizes XS to XXL.

Kerb Advanced Lady. The same idea cut for female drivers, with padded panels, an elasticated padded back panel, ventilated perforated panels and an adjustable waist. It comes in black and pink, in sizes XXS to L.

Thunder Advanced. Two-layer Cordura again, with perforated panels, semi-floating pre-curved arms, a ribbed neck and a hidden zip. It has the widest colour choice of the four, with seven combinations, in sizes XS to XXL.

Prime-K Advanced. Sparco's top-level kart suit, developed with input from professional kart drivers. It is still a two-layer suit, made from lightweight, breathable material, with semi-floating arms and a large stretch panel in the lower back so it fits close without restricting you.

It comes in five colour schemes and in numbered sizes from 44 to 62.

Kart suits and FIA race suits are different things

A kart suit protects against abrasion. An FIA race suit for cars, approved to FIA 8856-2018, is made from fire-resistant material to protect against heat and flame. They are built for different risks, so a kart suit is not a replacement for a race suit in a car.

Garreth’s advice is to buy for the racing you actually do, and to check the regulations for each series. Our kart suit standards guide goes through what different karting events ask for.

Yes. The Kerb Advanced, Kerb Advanced Lady, Thunder Advanced and Prime-K Advanced are all approved to FIA 8877-2022 Grade 1.

The Kerb Advanced Lady is cut for female drivers and comes in sizes XXS to L.

The Thunder Advanced, with seven colour combinations.

No. Car racing needs a fire-resistant FIA 8856-2018 race suit.
