Two Sparco X-Light suits are currently listed on this site. This guide covers the X-Light Full Efficiency, SKU BRS0005B0. The other listing, without "Full Efficiency" in the title, has a product-data discrepancy that has been flagged separately. The boots on this page cost £488.40 inc VAT. That is more than most of the suits we stock, and it is the detail that changes how the whole set reads.
The X-Light Plus boots are kangaroo leather, with a carbon fibre insole and an internal sock construction that eliminates the tongue entirely. The X-Light Full Efficiency suit uses regenerated materials in place of conventional Nomex. Both pieces carry FIA 8856-2018. The boots cost more than the suit, and the suit is not cheap. Both share a name for a reason: same engineering brief across all three pieces.

What the X-Light name means on all three pieces
The price is in the construction, not in the approval or the layer count.
The standard does not move
A Sprint Advanced at £481.20 and this X-Light Full Efficiency at £841.20 carry the same FIA 8856-2018 homologation. So does the X-Light Plus boot and the Tide+ glove. Every price difference in this range is about construction and materials, not protection levels.
Regenerated materials on the suit
The Full Efficiency branding on the current X-Light refers to its construction: regenerated fabric, not conventional Nomex. That is an engineering decision, not a marketing one. The suit passes the same test as every other FIA 8856-2018 suit we stock, but the underlying material comes from a different process.
Kangaroo leather on the boots, at the price that reflects it
The X-Light Plus uses kangaroo leather for the upper: thinner and softer than cowhide at the same tensile strength, and it moulds to your foot with use. There is no tongue. The insole is carbon fibre. At £488.40 inc VAT, it is the most expensive single piece in this set, and the construction explains why.

The suit
The X-Light Full Efficiency is Sparco’s current mid-range suit. The name points at what is different: regenerated materials and a construction focused on weight reduction without adding layers. It passes FIA 8856-2018 at two layers, same as the Sprint Advanced, and the price difference is in the material and the finish.
On, it is close-cut and flat-seamed, with stretch panels at the back and a collar and cuffs that do not add bulk at the edges. Three colourways, sizes 48 to 66.
There is an older X-Light listing on the site without “Full Efficiency” in the title. That listing has a data discrepancy that has been flagged and is pending review. This guide covers BRS0005B0 only.

The X-Light Plus is the boot that makes this set expensive. Kangaroo leather is the same material OMP uses on the One Evo X boot, and for the same reason: it is thinner and softer than cowhide, and it conforms to your foot over time in a way cowhide does not.
There is no tongue. The internal sock construction eliminates it and removes a layer between your foot and the pedal. The insole is carbon fibre, light and stiff. The sole is thin rubber.
Five colourways, UK 5.5 to 11. If you have a wide foot, allow for the narrow cut at the last.
The gloves
The Tide+ completes the X-Light set. The palm uses Sparco’s 3D HTX material: a moulded grip surface that reduces hand movement on the wheel and takes some of the vibration out of a long session. The back breathes. The seams sit on the outside.
The wrist closes with an elasticated cuff, quick on and off between sessions.

Which colours go together
The X-Light suit has three colourways. The boots have five and the gloves have four. Two boot colourways and one glove colourway have no suit equivalent: they are contrast accessories, not mismatches in the range.

All three colourways, worn

Black & White
Black across the suit, boots and gloves, white at the suit collar and panels. The most understated way to wear this range and, in most cockpits, the cleanest-looking under a helmet.
Navy Blue & White
No navy boot or glove exists in this range, so White & Black is the closest match: the accessories pick up the white panels on the suit. If you prefer a darker overall set, Black & White accessories work too.

What else sits at this money
Two honest alternatives before you decide.

What I would actually buy
The Red & White. It is the only colourway in the range where the suit, boots and gloves all carry the same body colour without compromise. The red on the boot upper matches the suit shoulders, the red on the glove back mirrors both, and from the driver’s seat looking down it reads as one piece rather than three things that were bought separately.
If the car is dark and red clashes, Navy Blue & White with White & Black accessories is the considered alternative. The white panel pick-up does something the Black & White set does not: it gives the accessories a visual reason to be there.
Final thoughts
The X-Light Full Efficiency is not a safety upgrade over a Sprint Advanced, and Sparco does not claim it is. It is the same approval executed in a different material, and the boots are where the engineering cost sits most visibly.
The boots at £488.40 cost more than most suits. The upper is kangaroo leather and the insole is carbon fibre. These are the reasons, not the branding. If you are used to a £120 boot, the difference is real and you will notice it. If you are already at a similar price point in another brand, this is the Sparco answer.
