What the Sport Plus is
The Sport Plus is Stilo’s Sport Jet open face helmet with an intercom headset built in. The shell is composite, finished in white with the Stilo logo on the front, and it has an adjustable peak to cut glare when you are driving into the sun. The peak can be swapped for other options if you want to personalise it.
It is approved to FIA 8859-2015 and Snell SA2020, and it comes with HANS posts fitted, so it is ready to use with a head and neck restraint straight out of the box.
Why the intercom matters
For rallying, the crew have to hear each other clearly over the noise of the car, and an intercom helmet makes that possible without separate headsets. The Sport Plus has the headset built into the helmet and is compatible with WRC and digital intercom amplifiers, so it plugs into the systems most rally cars already run.
That is why it is such a popular first intercom helmet. Garreth’s advice is to tell us what amplifier is in the car before ordering, so we can check the connection matches.
Why Stilo
Stilo is an Italian company known for helmets and in car communication systems, and its helmets and intercoms are used across rallying and circuit racing. The Sport Plus brings that intercom know how to a helmet at an entry level price, while the ST6 range sits at the top of their line up for drivers who need 8859-2024 or 8860 approval.
If you are not sure which approval your events ask for, our guide on how to choose a motorsport helmet goes through the standards.
The Stilo Helmet And FHR Bag
The Stilo Helmet And FHR Bag is made to carry a helmet and a head and neck restraint together. It has a heavy duty outer to take knocks and scrapes, a padded inner with a velvet lining to stop scratches, and breathable net panels on the sides to let air through and help prevent mould.
It has a central double zip, carry handles and an adjustable shoulder strap, and it is sized to go as hand luggage on a flight. Both the bag and the Sport Plus are in the showroom to look at together.
