What is on this page
The Slalom RB-3 Classic
The Classic takes the familiar Slalom RB-3 shape and makes it in premium brown leather, with Sparco embroidery on the side. It is a shoe for anyone who wants a vintage look in the car, and it suits a historic racer or a classic with a period interior.
Inside there is a leather insole for comfort. Underneath is a slim rubber sole that resists oil and fuel, with anti-slip and anti-static properties, so you still get a good feel of the pedals.

The Classic is approved to FIA 8856-2000, the earlier FIA standard for racewear. Before you buy any race shoe for competition, check which standard your championship asks for. Our guide to choosing FIA race boots explains the approvals and the fit.
This is the last pair we have, in UK 11 only, so if that is your size it is worth a look before it goes.
Our updated Sparco shoe range
This year we have updated every Sparco racing shoe on the site. Existing shoes now show their updated FIA approvals, fuller information and new images, and there are new models in the range. Race shoes are required in most forms of motorsport, and the good ones combine a flame retardant lining with a thin sole that lets you feel what your feet are doing.
For drivers starting out, our recommendations are the Sparco Slalom, the Skid and Skid Plus, and the Top. All of these carry the FIA 8856-2018 approval. We have the Slalom in black on the showroom display ready to try on, and it comes in further colours on the site.

The Skid and Skid Plus
Sparco designed the Skid and Skid Plus to meet the latest FIA homologation for heat and flame resistance. Both have abrasion resistant inserts in the sides and around the heel to protect the foot and make the shoe last longer, and a breathable flame retardant lining. They share an overlapping tongue and Kevlar lace loops.
The difference is underneath. The Skid Plus has a shock absorbing, anti-vibration sole, while the Skid has a thin rubber sole with a grip texture.
The new Sparco X-Light Plus
At the top of the range is the X-Light Plus, a high-top race boot made from kangaroo leather and synthetic leather, approved to FIA 8856-2018. It has no tongue. Instead there is an internal elasticated sock, a first for Sparco, which gives a closer and more comfortable fit. A lace closure at the side pulls it snug, and abrasion resistant leather around the heel protects the foot.
Garreth’s advice with any race boot is to try it on in the socks you will race in. A race boot should fit closer than an everyday shoe, and a boot with room in it lets the foot move on the pedals.
