Sparco Land Vs Classic Vs Martini Racing Gloves

Racing glove guide

A customer in the showroom asked us what the real difference is between the Sparco Land, the Land Classic and the Martini Racing version. It is a fair question, because on paper they look almost the same.

The short answer is that they share one construction and one set of approvals. What changes is the look, and with the Land+, a little extra grip. Here is how they line up.

  • All built on the same single-panel aramid glove
  • All approved to FIA 8856-2018 and SFI 3.3/5
  • Suede palm reinforcement and an elasticated cuff on every version
  • Land: modern colours. Land Classic: period look. Martini: Martini Racing stripes
  • Land+ adds extra grip detail on the palm and fingertips
  • Sizes XS to XXL across the family

What they all share

Every glove in the Land family is made from a single panel of aramid, the fibre that gives the fire resistance, with the stitching on the inside for a clean fit. Suede patches on the palm and the underside of the fingers are placed where your hand meets the wheel, for grip and feel.

They all have an elasticated, anti-slip cuff to keep the glove in place, and they are all approved to FIA 8856-2018 and SFI 3.3/5. That dual approval covers most club racing that asks for fire resistant gloves, so for scrutineering there is nothing to choose between them.

Land and Land+. These are the modern versions, in bold colours. The Land+ sits above the Land with extra grip detail on the palm and fingertips, while keeping the same light build.

Land Classic. The same glove in plain, period colours with a Sparco badge on the back. It suits historic and classic racing, where modern graphics can look out of place.

Martini Racing. The Land Classic again, finished with the Martini Racing stripes and the Sparco logo badge. The protection and fit are the same as the others. It is for anyone who wants to match a Martini Racing suit or helmet, or simply likes the livery.

Which one to pick

Because the approval and the construction are the same, the choice comes down to how you want the glove to look and how much grip you want. If you want the most grip from the family, go for the Land+. If you race a historic car, the Land Classic fits the period. If you want the livery, the Martini Racing version is the one.

Garreth’s advice is to get the size right first, since a glove that is too big bunches at the wheel whatever it looks like. Our guide to choosing FIA racing gloves explains how to measure.

Yes. All of them are approved to FIA 8856-2018 and SFI 3.3/5.

The construction is the same. The Land Classic comes in plain, period colours with a Sparco badge, while the Land comes in modern colours.

Extra grip detail on the palm and fingertips, with the same light build as the Land.

Only in the look. It is the Land Classic with the Martini Racing stripes and a Sparco badge.
