Alpinestars Tech 1-KX V3 Kart Boots: Two New Colour Options
Kartwear news, November 2025
The Alpinestars Tech 1-KX V3 kart boot now comes in two new colourways: white, green and red, and black, white and yellow. They join the black, white and red version, which carries on.
Nothing has changed underneath. The new colours share the same construction and the same FIA 8877-2022 approval, so the choice between them is purely about matching your suit, your kart or your team.

The new colours
The two additions are white, green and red, and black, white and yellow. Both are bright, which helps if you want your boots to match a suit or a team colour scheme. The black, white and red version stays in the range for anyone who prefers something darker.
Each colour is the same boot, built the same way and sized the same way. If you already wear a Tech 1-KX V3, the new colours will fit exactly like your current pair.

What the Tech 1-KX V3 is
The Tech 1-KX V3 was the first Alpinestars kart boot approved to FIA 8877-2022, the FIA standard for karting clothing. It is built for drivers who race and want a boot with the approval their championship may ask for, not just a comfortable trainer.
The upper is thin PU film and 3D mesh, welded together to cut down on seams and the pressure points they cause. Perforations on the toe and sides let air through. The lacing is asymmetric, following the shape of the foot, and an adjustable strap closes over the ankle. There are reinforcements at the heel, ankle and toe to resist wear.
The sole is the part drivers notice. It is a thin rubber sole that shares its design with Alpinestars’ top level race boots, so you can feel the pedals properly and it grips in the dry and the damp.
Sizing and fit
The Tech 1-KX V3 runs from UK 6 (EU 39) to UK 12 (EU 47). Most drivers take their normal trainer size. A kart boot should be snug, because a loose boot moves on the pedal, but it should not pinch across the top of the foot once the laces and strap are done up.
Garreth’s advice is to try boots on in the showroom if you can, in the socks you race in. If you cannot get to us, tell us your size in a trainer you like and we will help.
The rest of the Alpinestars kart boot range
If you do not need an FIA approved boot, the Alpinestars Tech 1-K Start V2 is the non-FIA option. It has the same idea of a thin, grippy sole and an asymmetric lace with a strap, in a simpler build, and it goes down to UK 4 for younger drivers. Check your championship’s regulations before you choose, because some ask for FIA 8877-2022 boots and some do not.
When the V3 first arrived we wrote about it in our 2024 Alpinestars karting boot update. For what karting approvals mean for suits, see our answer on using an FIA suit for karting.
