How To Get The Stig Look In 2025: White Racewear From Alpinestars And OMP

Anyone who has watched Top Gear knows the Stig: the anonymous driver in a plain white suit and a white helmet. It is one of the most recognisable looks in motoring television, and it is surprisingly easy to put together from proper, approved racewear.
With the 2025 season on the horizon, we have picked out the white and light coloured suits, gloves and boots in our range that get closest to it. Every item here is approved to FIA 8856-2018, so it is kit you can race in, not a costume.

Gloves: Alpinestars Tech 1 Race V4
The Tech 1 Race V4 is a mid range Alpinestars glove, redesigned to meet FIA 8856-2018. It is made from a flame resistant aramid fibre and has an extended cuff for extra heat protection over the wrist, with an elasticated closure.
The detail that makes it good to drive in is the fit: external seams on the palm side, pre-curved palms and fingers so the material does not bunch, and a silicone palm print for grip on the wheel. For the Stig look, the white and red colourway is the one to choose. Sizes run from S to XXL.
Boots: Alpinestars Tech 1-Z V3
The Tech 1-Z V3 is a lightweight FIA 8856-2018 race boot with a soft leather upper and perforated zones for airflow. Alpinestars’ speed lace system and flat wire support give a close fit with few pressure points, and the thin rubber sole, derived from their Formula 1 boots, gives the pedal feel you want on the throttle, brake and clutch.

Two suits: Hypertech V3 or First S
The Alpinestars Hypertech V3 is the lighter, more advanced option. It is a two layer suit with a soft knit lining, pre-curved arms and legs, superlight Nomex stretch panels at the elbows, knees and lower back, a slimmer cuff and a YKK metal zip with a double slider. It is available in white, black and silver, which is about as close to the Stig as a current race suit gets, in sizes 44 to 60.
The OMP First S is the entry level alternative. It is also a two layer Nomex suit, with a soft knitted inner, flat seams, fully floating arms, stretch panels and flat shoulder extraction points that do not press on a head and neck restraint. There is no white version, but the silver colourway gives a similar light look for less money.

Finishing the look safely
The last piece is a white helmet, and there are plenty in our helmet range at different approvals. Choose it for the events you do first: a track day helmet and a helmet for FIA competition are not the same thing.
The same goes for the rest of the set. The approval belongs to each item, so check the label on the suit, gloves and boots against your championship’s rules, and add fire resistant underwear if your regulations ask for it.
