New Bell FIA Helmet And HANS Device Packages For 2024

We now have a set of Bell helmet and HANS device packages for 2024. They cover open and full face Bell helmets, and each helmet is paired with one of two quite different head and neck restraints: the Simpson Hybrid Sport or the Schroth Super Sport XLT.
The two devices work in different ways, so the choice comes down to your seat, your car and what feels right. Here is how they differ.

The Bell packages
Each package is a Bell helmet with the HANS posts fitted, paired with a head and neck restraint. The helmets include the Bell Mag, an open face helmet with a fibreglass composite shell and an adjustable peak, and the Bell Star Classic, a full face helmet with a 1970s look.
Most of the helmets come in both versions of the package, one with the Simpson device and one with the Schroth, so you can pick the helmet you want and then the restraint that suits you.
The Simpson Hybrid Sport packages
The Simpson Hybrid Sport rests on your back and shoulders, where a traditional HANS device sits over the chest and collarbones. The tethers slide, which gives good head movement, and some drivers find it more comfortable and easier to get in and out of the car with.
It is made from composite, it comes in five sizes from XS to XL based on chest size, and it is approved to FIA 8858-2010. It can be ordered to fit standard HANS posts, or with Simpson’s M61 quick release, which replaces the posts with a cord pull release.
The Schroth Super Sport XLT packages
If you prefer a traditional HANS device, the Schroth Super Sport XLT is the other option. It has a 20 degree angle, which suits the more upright seating position found in most saloon and touring cars, and it weighs around 800g.
The shoulder pads are covered in Nomex, it has sliding tethers, and it comes with two pairs of harness winglets. It comes in Medium and Large.
