OMP Air: the One-S Air and One-Evo Air set guide, with One Evo X boots and gloves

Driver in OMP Air Race Suit standing in the pit lane at a British circuit

The OMP Air range is OMP’s ventilated approach to FIA 8856-2018: single-layer fabric with perforated panels that move air next to the skin. Two suits carry this construction at two price points, the One-S Air at £1,248 inc VAT and the One-Evo Air at £1,352.40 inc VAT. Both pair with the OMP One Evo X Race Boots and OMP One Evo X Racing Gloves.

The One Evo X boots and gloves appear in the OMP One Evo X set guide with their full specification. This guide covers the Air suits and the colour combinations specific to the Air range.

Set prices: One-S Air set £1,729.20 inc VAT. One-Evo Air set £1,833.60 inc VAT. Suit, boots and gloves all carry FIA 8856-2018.

Where the Air range sits

I’m Cameron. The Air range is OMP’s answer to ventilation in a race car cockpit. The Tecnica addresses it by adding a breathable layer between the driver and the outer fabric. The One Evo X addresses it by reducing the amount of material entirely. The Air range addresses it by putting holes in the outer fabric so air moves through in use. All three approaches carry the same FIA 8856-2018 standard. The right choice depends on what you want from a suit.

The Air suits are for drivers who want airflow and are comfortable with a single-layer build. If you have sat in a sealed cockpit on a warm day wishing there was more circulation, this is the construction for that. If you want the lightest possible suit, the One Evo X is the choice. If you want moisture management, the Tecnica.

There are set guides for the One Evo X and the Tecnica on this site. This is the fourth guide in the OMP series. The range is now complete.

01

What Air means in OMP racewear

The ‘Air’ designation refers to perforated fabric panels in the suit body. The perforations allow air to circulate next to the skin during use. This is not the same as a moisture-wicking breathable layer (that is the Tecnica’s approach) and not the same as weight reduction (that is the One Evo X). Air is ventilation through the fabric itself. In a closed race car cockpit with limited airflow, it makes a meaningful difference over a long stint.

02

One-S Air vs One-Evo Air: same fabric, different cut

Both suits use the same Air fabric approach at different price points. The One-S Air is £1,248 inc VAT. The One-Evo Air is £1,352.40 inc VAT. The One-Evo Air uses the Evo construction: a different panel layout and a more tailored fit through the torso and shoulders. If you have driven in an OMP One Evo X and prefer that cut, the One-Evo Air is the direct Air equivalent. If you are starting fresh, either suits and the price difference is the cost of the cut.

03

OMP’s three construction routes

OMP’s FIA 8856-2018 range has three distinct approaches, each with a set guide on this site. The Tecnica adds a breathable outer layer to move heat and moisture. The One Evo X strips material to reach the lightest possible build. The Air range uses perforated fabric for active ventilation. The three routes address three different priorities: moisture management, weight, airflow. None is objectively better; the right one depends on what you want from a suit.

04

The accessories are the same across both Air sets

Both Air sets use the OMP One Evo X Race Boots and OMP One Evo X Racing Gloves, the same products as in the OMP One Evo X set guide. The full boot and glove specification, including the Kangaroo leather detail and the sizing chart, is in that guide. This guide covers what is different: the Air suit range and the colour combinations.

Data flag: both suits show ‘3 Layers’ in our product dataThe OMP One-S Air Race Suit and the OMP One-Evo Air Race Suit both carry a ‘3 Layers’ attribute in our WooCommerce product data. The construction for both suits is single-layer Air fabric. The attribute is incorrect and has been flagged for correction. If you need to confirm the construction for a specific series’ regulations, check the OMP product sheet or contact us directly.

The OMP One-S Air Race Suit

The OMP One-S Air Race Suit is FIA 8856-2018, single-layer, 218 g/m² Air fabric with perforated ventilation panels at the chest, back and arms. Five colourways: Black and Silver, Silver and Black, Navy Blue and Fluro Orange, Black and Teal, Red and White. Sizes XS to XXXL.

The One-S Air is the lower price point in the Air range at £1,248 inc VAT. The ‘S’ construction is the same base as the standard OMP One-S, adapted for the Air fabric. If you have worn an OMP One-S and found the cut works for you, the One-S Air fits in the same way. The Air fabric adds the perforated ventilation; the cut and silhouette are unchanged.

OMP race suit sizing uses chest, waist, inside leg and height together. If you are between sizes, take the larger. Drop us an email or click to open a chat if you need help with sizing before ordering.

The OMP One-Evo Air Race Suit

The OMP One-Evo Air Race Suit is FIA 8856-2018, single-layer Air fabric with the same perforated ventilation approach as the One-S Air. Five colourways: Black, Anthracite and Fluro Yellow, Navy Blue and Cyan, Grey, Silver.

The One-Evo Air uses the Evo construction: a different panel layout from the One-S Air with a more tailored fit through the torso and shoulders. It is the construction line that the OMP One Evo X belongs to, without the Super Light weight reduction. At £1,352.40 inc VAT, the One-Evo Air costs £104.40 more than the One-S Air for the same Air fabric in the Evo cut. If you know you prefer the Evo fit from experience with the One Evo X, the extra cost is for that cut.

Sizing as per the One-S Air: chest, waist, inside leg and height. The Evo cut is more tailored through the torso; if you are between sizes, take the larger.

The boots

The OMP One Evo X Race Boots appear in the OMP One Evo X set guide with the full specification, sizing notes and Kangaroo leather detail. The same boots are used in both Air sets.

For the Air sets: five colourways (Navy Blue, Fluorescent Yellow, Red, White, Black), FIA 8856-2018, £300 inc VAT. Sizing and construction detail are in the One Evo X guide.

The gloves

The OMP One Evo X Racing Gloves appear in the OMP One Evo X set guide with the full specification and colourway detail. The same gloves are used in both Air sets.

For the Air sets: six colourways (Fluorescent Yellow, Red, Navy Blue, Orange and Black, White, Black), FIA 8856-2018, £181.20 inc VAT. Which colourway works best for each suit combination is in the section below.

Which colours go together

Black
SuitBlack & Silver (One-S Air)
BootsBlack
GlovesBlack

Black boots and gloves pair with both black colourways: One-S Air Black & Silver and One-Evo Air Black. The all-black One-Evo Air is the most neutral of the ten colourways for accessory pairing.

Navy Blue
SuitNavy & Fluro Orange (One-S Air)
BootsNavy Blue
GlovesNavy Blue

Navy Blue boots and gloves pair with both navy colourways. The One-Evo Air Navy & Cyan uses the same navy body as the One-S Air Navy & Fluro Orange. The accent colours differ but the navy body is the pairing reference.

Silver & Grey
SuitSilver & Black (One-S Air)
BootsWhite (closest light boot)
GlovesWhite

No grey or silver boot exists in the One Evo X range. White boots read cleanly against the Silver & Black and One-Evo Air Silver suits. For One-Evo Air Grey, Black boots give a stronger contrast.

Fluro Yellow
SuitAnthracite & Fluro Yellow (One-Evo Air)
BootsFluorescent Yellow
GlovesFluorescent Yellow

Fluorescent Yellow boots and gloves echo the suit accent exactly. Black boots and gloves give a monochrome alternative against the anthracite body.

Red & White
SuitRed & White (One-S Air)
BootsRed
GlovesRed

Red boots and gloves complete the red accent. One-S Air Black & Teal: Black boots and gloves work against the teal accent. No teal boot or glove exists in the One Evo X range.

Fit and sizing

Sizes, and what to measure
PieceSizesWhat to measure
OMP One-S Air Race SuitXS–XXXLChest, waist, inside leg and height. OMP race suit sizing is consistent with standard European sizing. Use the OMP size guide, not jacket size.
OMP One-Evo Air Race SuitXS–XXXLAs above. The Evo cut is more tailored through the torso; if between sizes, take the larger.
OMP One Evo X Race BootsEU 38–48 (11 sizes)Full sizing and fit notes in the OMP One Evo X set guide.
OMP One Evo X Racing GlovesS, M, L, XL, XXLFull sizing in the OMP One Evo X set guide.

OMP race suit sizing is standard European sizing: chest, waist, inside leg and height together. If measurements fall between sizes, take the larger. Both Air suits are cut for a racing position and will feel shorter in the body when standing.

Boot and glove sizing: full chart in the OMP One Evo X set guide.

What else at this level

The Air suits sit in OMP’s single-layer FIA 8856-2018 range. The primary comparison is the OMP One Evo X:

OMP One Evo X: three-layer FIA 8856-2018, Super Light construction, £1,833.60 inc VAT for the set. The One Evo X set costs the same as the One-Evo Air set but uses a three-layer build with different engineering priorities. The One Evo X addresses weight. The Air suits address ventilation.

For a three-layer approach from OMP with moisture management, the OMP Tecnica set guide is on this site. The Tecnica is a different construction at a different price point.

All four OMP set guides are on the racewear set guides page.

My verdict

I’m Cameron. The Air range is the most specific of OMP’s three FIA 8856-2018 approaches. Ventilation is the brief, and the perforated panels deliver it. If you spend your racing life in a sealed cockpit and heat is the thing that limits you over a long stint, this is the suit I’d look at.

Between the two: the One-S Air is the starting point. The One-Evo Air is for drivers who already know they prefer the Evo cut from the One Evo X and want the Air ventilation in that construction. The £104.40 difference is not about quality or protection; both suits carry the same standard and the same fabric. It is purely the cut.

The One Evo X boots and gloves are covered thoroughly in the One Evo X guide. They pair cleanly with both Air suit ranges. If you want help choosing between the One-S Air and the One-Evo Air before ordering, drop us an email or click to open a chat.
