The Complete BC Racing Coilover Guide for Kia

Almost everything in the Kia range fits on the BR series and that is the end of the decision. Fourteen of the 21 listings are FWD or AWD family cars and crossovers, and BC Racing does not need to split them by series. The one exception is the Stinger.

The CK-chassis Stinger (2017 to 2023) is the only Kia on a rear-wheel-drive platform, and it is the only one where the RM series is worth considering alongside the BR. I have the fitment notes for all 21 kits here at GSM Performance, and everything below resolves from the year and the chassis code.

Which BC series fits your Kia

BR covers 17 of the 21 fitments. RM is available on three, all of them variable listings where BR and RM are presented together: the Stinger (CK, 2017 to 2023), the Optima (TF, 2011 to 2015) and the Forte (TD, 2009 to 2013). V1 covers five older and market-specific fitments at the entry end of the range.

What to check before you order

Two things come up on this range.

The Sportage has two separate listings on different chassis. The QL (2016 to 2022) is AWD only. The NQ5 (2023 onwards) covers both FWD and AWD. They are different kits, so confirm the generation before ordering.

The Forte Coupe (YD, 2012 to 2018) is a separate product from the Forte saloon (TD, 2009 to 2013). The Forte Coupe runs BR only. The Forte saloon is a variable listing covering BR and RM. There is also a Forte (China) listing on the same TD chassis for the Chinese-market specification, available on V1 only. If you are buying for a standard-market car, use the plain Forte listing.

BC Racing coilovers for the Kia Stinger

The Stinger is the only Kia with a rear-wheel-drive platform and the only one where the series choice matters. The BR kit is the right starting point for road use. The RM is the performance option, with firmer compression and rebound settings and greater adjustability for drivers who want to run the car on track. The listing covers the CK chassis for all model years 2017 to 2023, and drive type does not split the kit.

BC Racing coilovers for the Kia range

The rest of the current range runs on BR. This covers the Soul PS (2014 to 2019), both Sportage generations, the Niro (SG2, 2021 onwards), the EV6 (CV, 2021 onwards, RWD), the Ceed SW (CD, 2018 onwards), the Sorento (MQ4, 2020 onwards, AWD), the Carnival (KA4, 2020 onwards), the Stonic (YB, 2017 onwards), the Picanto (JA, 2017 onwards), the Rio (UB, 2012 to 2017), the Optima (TF, 2011 to 2015, BR/RM variable) and the Forte (TD, 2009 to 2013, BR/RM variable).

Older and V1-series Kia fitments

The V1 series covers the older platforms. The first-gen Soul (AM, 2008 to 2013) and the Picanto/Morning (TA, 2011 to 2017, sold as Picanto in the UK and Morning in other markets) are on V1 only. The early Rio (DC, 2001 to 2002) has a variable BR/V1 listing. The Euro Star (SA, 2004 to 2011) is available on V1. The Forte Coupe (YD, 2012 to 2018) and the Sedona (YP, 2014 to 2020) both run BR only and sit in this group as the older models in those nameplates.

Final thoughts

Twenty-one Kia fitments, three series, and the decision is straightforward for almost all of them. If your Kia is a crossover, a hatchback or a family car, the BR series is the kit and the chassis code tells you which listing. The Stinger is the one car where the RM series opens up a genuinely different character, and it is worth pausing on that choice before you order.

If you are unsure which listing applies to your car, the chassis code appears on the plate in the driver’s door jamb. Cameron, GSM Performance.
