The Sparco Martini Racing boot
This is Sparco's Top race boot in Martini Racing colours. It is FIA 8856-2018 approved, so it can be used in events that ask for FIA footwear.
The upper is soft suede with Sparco embroidery, and there is a Velcro strap above the laces. Inside is a leather insole, and underneath a slim rubber sole that resists oil and fuel, with anti-slip and anti-static properties. A thin sole gives good feel through the pedals.

The boots belong to Sparco’s Martini Racing collection, which also includes a race suit, gloves and helmets, so a whole matching set is possible. Our review of the Sparco Martini Racing collection covers the other pieces.
Garreth's advice with any race boot is to try it on in the driving position if you can, with the socks you will race in. A boot that feels fine standing up can feel different with your heel on the floor and your toes on a pedal.

Entry level Sparco boots
If the Martini boot is not the look you want, Sparco’s entry level boots are good value and carry the same FIA 8856-2018 approval, with fire retardant linings.
The Slalom Plus takes its lead from the Sparco Slalom. It comes with a full suede upper or suede with fabric inserts for better breathability, a newer insole for comfort and fit, scuff resistant heels and toes, a breathable lining and an asymmetric thin lace closure.
The Skid and Skid Plus are built to the same FIA standard, with abrasion resistant inserts on the sides and heel, an overlapping tongue and tough Kevlar lace loops. The difference is underfoot: the Skid Plus has a shock absorbing, anti-vibration sole, while the Skid has a thin textured rubber sole for more feel.
The Sparco X-Light Plus
At the top of Sparco’s range is the X-Light Plus, a light, high-top FIA boot made from soft kangaroo leather and synthetic leather. It has no tongue: an elasticated internal sock takes its place, which gives a closer and more comfortable fit. A side lace system pulls it tight quickly, and abrasion resistant leather round the heel helps it last. It comes in several colours and a wide range of sizes.
If you are choosing between these, our guide on how to choose FIA race boots explains approvals, sizing and pedal feel.
