New Sparco X-Light Racewear For 2025: The Full Efficiency Suit And X-Light Plus Boots
Racewear news, January 2025
Two new pieces of Sparco racewear have joined our range for the 2025 season: the X-Light Full Efficiency race suit and the X-Light Plus race boots. Both are approved to FIA 8856-2018 and both are built around the same idea, keeping weight and bulk down.
The suit also brings something new from Sparco: it is made partly from regenerated fabric recovered from Sparco's own production. Here is what each piece offers and how they work together.

The X-Light Full Efficiency race suit
The Full Efficiency is a two-layer suit approved to FIA 8856-2018. Its headline feature is the fabric: part of it is regenerated material recovered from Sparco’s own production process. Sparco says this cuts waste and saves around 7 kg of CO2 per suit, without changing the protection.
The rest of the suit is about comfort over a long stint. There are breathable inserts at the groin, fully floating pre-curved sleeves, an elasticated anti-abrasion panel at the lower back for a better fit when seated, ultra-flat internal seams and smooth cuffs and ankles with no seam. Sizes run from 48 to 66, in black and white, navy blue and white, or red and white.
The X-Light Plus race boots. These are a very light, close-fitting boot. The upper is ultra-thin kangaroo leather with a jacquard fabric, and instead of a conventional tongue there is a tall elasticated internal sock that wraps the foot and ankle.
Underneath is a flexible carbon fibre insole for support and a thin rubber sole with a specific tread for pedal feel. Leather inserts protect the heel, and a side lace closure keeps the fit secure. They are approved to FIA 8856-2018 and come in five colour combinations, from black and white to fluorescent yellow and black.

Wearing them together
The suit and boots share the same black and white design language, so they look right as a pair, and Sparco’s Tide+ gloves complete the set. The approval belongs to every item, so it is worth checking each label against your championship’s regulations.
Garreth’s advice with a slim boot like the X-Light Plus is to try it on or measure carefully, because a close fit is the point. Our guide to choosing FIA race boots covers approvals, sizing and pedal feel, and there is a full set guide to the X-Light suit, boots and Tide+ gloves as well.
