A batch of Alpinestars SP+ race boots has just arrived in the showroom. The SP+ is the newest boot in the Alpinestars range, and the idea behind it is simple: bring the features of their dearer boots down to a price that suits drivers on a tighter budget.
This delivery is the black and white version, in five sizes from UK 9 upwards, so you can come in and try a pair on. The other colours are on our website.

What has arrived
The boots in the showroom are the black and white SP+, in five sizes starting at UK 9. They are on the display now, and you are welcome to try them on before you buy. We can also send them out from here or have them ready to collect.
If black and white is not your colour, the SP+ comes in other options, including blue, red and yellow versions, which you will find on the product page.
How the SP+ is made
The upper mixes suede and leather, with perforated areas on the tongue and the sides of the boot to let air through. Inside, Alpinestars use a tubular lining made from a heat-resistant para-aramid material, which is more comfortable against the foot and gives protection from heat.
The collar and tongue padding is rubber, chosen for comfort and to keep the weight down.
The sole is the part drivers notice first. It is a thin rubber sole, derived from Alpinestars’ Formula One boots, so you can feel the pedals clearly, and the tyre tread pattern gives the sole grip on them.
Fastening and fit
The SP+ uses two fastenings together: a hook and loop strap across the top, and traditional laces that run through hidden loops for a neater finish. It is quick to get on and off, and the two together hold the foot securely.
Garreth's advice with any race boot is to try it on with your race socks, because a boot that is right in a trainer sock can feel tight once you are in fire-resistant ones.
