The Alpinestars SP V2
The SP V2 is the latest version of Alpinestars' popular entry-level race boot. The upper is premium suede, which gives a good fit and plenty of comfort, and the back of the collar is a soft Nomex knit that is kind to the Achilles area.
Double layer side panels add protection. Underfoot there is a twin layer footbed and a light, ultra-thin rubber sole for grip and feel on the pedals, and it is finished with traditional laces that are easy to do up with gloves on.

Why race boots matter
Race boots are required in most forms of motorsport. They protect your feet in a fire with a flame retardant lining, and the thin sole gives far better feel on the pedals than an everyday shoe.
Garreth’s advice is to try boots on in the socks you race in. A race boot should fit closer than a normal shoe, so it holds the foot still on the pedals. For drivers starting out, we also recommend entry-level boots from Sparco and OMP, and the range is worth a look if the SP V2 is not your size.
