Definitive Sparco And OMP Kit Bag Guide 2024
Kit bag guide, September 2024
This is our round up of the Sparco and OMP kit bags we carry: helmet bags, a double helmet box, trolley bags, holdalls, rucksacks and a suit bag. It is everything you need to get your racewear to an event and home again in one piece.
The right bag depends on how you travel. Someone flying to a race needs something different from a rally co-driver or a karter walking between the paddock and the grid, so we have grouped them by job.
- Sparco and OMP kit bags, from helmet bags to 142 litre trolley bags
- The Sparco DryTech bag dries a helmet and HANS from a USB supply
- OMP trolley bags come in small, medium and large, plus a compact
- The small OMP trolley bag is sized for aircraft carry on
- Sparco and OMP both make a bag laid out for co-drivers

Helmet bags and boxes
A helmet shell is tough; the visor and paint are not, and most damage happens in transit. The Sparco Helmet Bag and the OMP Helmet Bag are both padded holdalls for a full face helmet, with room for gloves, a balaclava or a spare visor.
The Sparco DryTech Helmet and HANS bag goes further. It holds a helmet and a HANS device together, and has a built-in system, run from a USB supply, that circulates air through the helmet lining to dry it between sessions.
For two helmets, a double box keeps them apart. The Sparco Double Helmet Box has two compartments in a wipe clean vinyl shell, with side pockets big enough for a tool or a wheel brace, in black or blue.
A box like this suits a rally crew, where the driver's and co-driver's helmets travel together. Check the internal size if you run a large shell helmet.

Trolley bags and holdalls
A full set of racewear and a helmet is heavy, and wheels make a long walk to the paddock easier. OMP’s trolley bags come in small, medium and large, plus a compact. The small is sized for aircraft carry on, the medium is built to take a helmet with a suit, boots and gloves, and the medium and large come with a padlock.
Sparco’s Satellite and Tour are trolley bags too; the Tour is 142 litres, the largest in Sparco’s range. If you would rather carry, the Sparco Trip has two zipped compartments to keep clean kit apart from used kit, and the Dakar duffle comes in 60 or 110 litres.
Co-driver bags, rucksacks and suit bags
Co-drivers carry notes, road books, pens and a stopwatch as well as their racewear. The Sparco Co-Driver Bag and the OMP Co-Driver Plus both have compartments laid out for that. For a day bag, the Sparco Stage and Super Stage rucksacks and the OMP Backpack keep your hands free, and the Super Stage has a padded laptop section.
The OMP Race Suit Bag is a light full zip bag that keeps a suit, boots and gloves together and off the floor of the van. Garreth’s advice is to let racewear dry out fully before it goes back in any bag. Our helmet bag guide has more on the helmet side.
