OMP Helmet Box In-Store On Display
Showroom news, October 2023
We have the OMP double helmet box on display in the showroom, ready to look at, and available to send out or collect. It is a large storage box for your helmets and racewear, with room for two helmets and pockets around the outside for the smaller things.
It is a simple piece of kit, and it answers the question of where the helmets go between events, in the garage, the van or the boot of the car.

What the helmet box is
The OMP helmet box has two compartments, each big enough for a helmet, so a driver and co-driver can keep both helmets together without them knocking against each other. The inside is trimmed in a soft velour fabric and the walls are padded, to look after the helmet shells.
Around the outside are elasticated pockets. They hold gloves, race underwear, maps or a few tools securely, and you can still get at them easily.

When it is empty, the box collapses, so it does not take up the same space all year. Garreth’s advice is to let a helmet dry out properly after an event before it goes in any box or bag, because a damp lining will not freshen up in a closed space.
Why a box for your helmet
A knock from something heavy in a van or garage can damage a helmet in ways you cannot always see. Keeping it in a padded box away from tools and spares is a sensible habit.
A box also keeps the helmet, gloves and balaclava together, so there is less chance of arriving at an event with something left at home. Our guide to kit bags looks at the other ways to carry racewear.

OMP helmets in the showroom
The box sits alongside our OMP helmets, which are on display in both open and full face versions with the latest FIA approvals. Two of them:
- OMP J-R: an open face helmet with a light composite shell, a breathable fire retardant lining, and a white anti-dazzle peak with a tinted visor strip.
- OMP GP-R: a full face helmet with four air intakes on the chin and eight vents on top. The standard eyeport takes a visor or a touring sun peak, and it closes with a double ring fastening.
Every OMP helmet listing also suggests bundle items, including HANS devices and balaclavas. If you are choosing a helmet, our helmet sizing guide shows how to measure.
