The OMP KS-2R is a karting glove with external seams and silicone rubber palms. Part number OMPKB0-2749.
External seams are the point
The stitching is on the outside rather than the inside, so nothing presses into your hand. Over a long day on a kart wheel, an internal seam across the palm becomes a blister, and that is the single most common complaint about cheap karting gloves.
What else it does
Silicone rubber printed on the palm and fingers for grip, which matters on a kart wheel with no assistance and considerable feedback. Bellows across the knuckles and fingers so the glove moves with your hand rather than fighting it, and takes the graze when your hands meet something.
Mesh panels for breathability, a neoprene insert and a slanted wrist cut with an elastic band, so the glove stays put without a bulky strap.
Karting gloves are not fireproof
Worth stating. These are grip and protection gloves rather than fire rated racewear. If you are competing in a car, you need FIA 8856-2018 driving gloves and we stock those.
Wide colour range. Tell us your hand size and we will advise.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Discover the Latest OMP KS-4 Kart Suit for 2026, and New for 2026: OMP KS-3 and KS-2X Karting Boots Now Online. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
What size should I order?
Sizes run from XXS to XL. Measure around your palm at the knuckles and go snug: kart steering is all feel, and loose material between you and the wheel costs grip. Junior sizes are in the range for young drivers, and we will happily confirm sizing from a measurement.
Are they legal for competition karting?
These gloves are not homologated for competition karting, which makes it the right price for practice, corporate events, and rental driving, but not for club or championship racing. If you race, look at the FIA 8877-2022 items in the range.
What makes a kart glove different from a race glove?
Grip and abrasion rather than fire. Kart gloves put silicone or reinforced material on the palm for an unassisted wheel and are built to survive contact with tarmac, while car racing gloves are fire-resistant and FIA 8856 homologated. Our racing gloves guide covers the car side if you need both.
