The Sparco Sky KF-5W is a full face karting helmet in a composite shell, certified to Snell K2015. Part number SPA003355.
The K in K2015 is the important letter. Snell run separate standards for karting and for cars, and this is a karting helmet. It is not on the Motorsport UK accepted list for car competition, so if you are buying for circuit racing or rallying in a car, this is the wrong helmet and you want an SA or FIA rated lid instead.
The junior question
Worth reading before you buy for a young driver. Motorsport UK require CMR or CMS helmets, with a 1550g weight limit, for under 15, Cadet and Bambino karting. A K2015 helmet does not meet that, whatever it weighs. If you are buying for a junior in one of those classes, ask us for a CMR lid instead and we will sort it.
For senior karting, check the current regulations for your club and championship before you commit, because the accepted karting list is its own thing and it changes.
Specification
Full face composite shell in white or matt black. Sizes XS at 53 to 54cm through to XXL at 62cm, with ML at 59cm. No head and neck restraint posts fitted and no communication kit.
Full face is the right call in karting regardless of the rules, because there is no bodywork between you and anything else on the circuit.
Measure round the head above the eyebrows before ordering.
How do I get the right size?
Measure around your head at the widest point, about an inch above your eyebrows, and match the centimetres to the size options (this one runs from roughly 53cm to 62cm). The fit should be snug all round with no pressure points, and it should not rotate when you shake your head. Between sizes, try the smaller one first, as linings bed in. Our helmet buying guide covers fit in detail, or call us and we will talk it through.
Is it legal for competition karting?
This helmet carries Snell K2015, a karting standard. Karting standards are separate from the car racing list, so if you also race cars you will need a helmet from our motorsport helmet range. Check your club or championship regulations for the accepted list.
How do I look after it?
Store it in its bag away from heat and direct sun, clean the shell with mild soap and water only (solvents attack the finish and the shell), and let the lining air out after use. And the big one: after any significant impact, replace the helmet even if it looks fine, as the protective liner is designed to crush once.
