The T-1 Evo is a clear waterproof oversuit worn over a karting suit in wet outdoor sessions. Part number SPA00239T1E.

The material is 100% TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). The seams are heat-welded, not stitched. The distinction matters: a stitched seam has needle holes and water finds them within minutes in proper rain. Heat welding fuses the material at every join without holes, so the suit stays dry inside for the duration of a session.

Front closure is a zip with a hook-and-loop cover flap. The waist and wrists are elasticated, and the wrist cuffs are cut to fit over kart boots without leaving a gap for water to run up the arm. Available in sizes XS to XXL.

The suit is clear. The listing image shows it worn over a Sparco kart suit, which is how it is intended to be used; only the oversuit is included in this purchase.

Two things to check before ordering. The T-1 Evo has no CIK or FIA approval, so it is not the right wet weather kit if your series mandates specific rated equipment. And it is an oversuit worn on top of a full karting outfit, not a replacement for the base layers underneath.

If you kart a handful of times a year and rarely run in rain, a basic PVC oversuit is cheaper and does the job. The T-1 Evo is the right call if you race regularly outdoors and want something cut properly to fit over a kart suit.

Karting suit size guide

Kart suits are sold three different ways on the same page. Some are on the numeric ladder, the same one that brand uses for its car suits. Some are on letters. The junior suits are sized on the child’s height in centimetres. Work out which one you are looking at first and the rest is straightforward.

System Which suits What it means
Numeric, 40 to 62 Sparco Superleggera-K and Prime-K, OMP KS-2X and KS-3X, Alpinestars KMX-5 and KMX-9 Same ladder as that brand’s car suits
Letters, XXS to XXXL Sparco Thunder, Kerb and Rookie, OMP KS-4 and Summer-K, Alpinestars Indoor Two numeric sizes per letter
Junior, 120 to 150 cm OMP Summer-K Junior Sized on the child’s height, not age

Measure these three

AChestAround the fullest part, under the armpits, tape horizontal.
BWaistAround your natural waist, level with the navel.
CHeightAgainst a wall, no shoes. This is what sizes a junior suit.

Measure over the kart underwear you will actually wear. A long sleeve top and long johns take up more room than a t-shirt, and a kart suit is cut closer than a car suit to start with.

Numeric sizes

These are the same ladders each brand uses for its car suits, so if you already own a race suit in one of these brands you know your number.

From size 46 upwards Alpinestars add roughly a centimetre of height per size step over Sparco on almost identical chest measurements. If you are short and broad, or tall and slim, that is worth knowing before you order.

Letter sizes

Where a suit is sold in letters, each letter covers two numeric sizes. This is Sparco’s own grouping and OMP and Alpinestars follow the same pattern.

Letter Numeric Chest (cm)
XS 44 / 46 86 – 93
S 48 / 50 94 – 101
M 52 / 54 102 – 109
L 56 / 58 110 – 117
XL 60 / 62 118 – 125
XXL 64 / 66 126 – 133

The Sparco Kerb Advanced Lady runs XXS to L and is cut on the women’s block, not this one. Send us your bust, waist and height for that and we will size it properly rather than convert from a men’s chart.

Junior suits

The OMP Summer-K Junior is sized 120, 130, 140 and 150, and those numbers are the child’s height in centimetres, not their age. Ages are a rough guide only. Measure them.

Size Typical age Height (cm) Chest (cm) Waist (cm)
120 cm 6 to 7 116 – 125 60 – 63 55 – 60
130 cm 8 to 9 126 – 135 64 – 67 61 – 63
140 cm 10 to 11 136 – 145 68 – 71 64 – 67
150 cm 12 to 13 148 – 155 72 – 75 68 – 71

Body measurements from Sparco’s published youth chart, which uses the same 120 to 150 ladder. Use them as a cross-check on the height.

Do not buy a junior suit to grow intoA suit that is too long in the arm bunches at the wrist and catches on the wheel, and one that is loose across the shoulders drags every time they turn in. Size it to the measurement now. If they are right on a boundary, take the larger and turn the cuffs once.

Standards, and what they mean for choice

FIA 8877-2022 is the current kart clothing standard and Grade 1 is the higher of its two levels. It replaced the old CIK-FIA Level 2, which you will still see on older stock. Suits marked Non-CIK or Non-FIA are the rain suits, over-suits and indoor karting suits, which are not competition wear. All three appear in this category, so check the approval on the product before you buy if you are running in a championship.

What else changes the fit

Rain gear goes over the top

The OMP Rain-K and Sparco T-1 Evo wetsuit are over-suits, worn on top of everything else. Size those to go over your kart suit rather than to your own measurements, which usually means one size up.

Kart suits sit closer than car suits

There is no seat holding you in place, so a kart suit is cut to move with you rather than to sit over a harness. If you are used to a race suit it will feel tighter across the shoulders at the same nominal size, and that is correct.

Between two sizes, or buying for a child?Send chest, waist and height and tell us which suit you are looking at. Junior sizing in particular is worth a two minute conversation. Call 0115 989 3488 or email Sales@GSMPerformance.co.uk.

Numeric ladders are the manufacturers’ own published charts, the same ones used in our racing suit size guide. Sparco from sparco-official.com, OMP from their product size chart, Alpinestars from their size guide. Youth measurements from Sparco’s published youth chart. All checked 2 August 2026.

What size should I order?
Sizes run from XS to XXL. Kart suits are cut for a seated driving position, so go by chest and height rather than your usual clothing size, and allow room to move freely. Between sizes, take the larger one. Send us your measurements if you want us to confirm before you order.

Is it legal for competition karting?
This suit is not homologated for competition karting, which makes it the right price for practice, corporate events, and rental driving, but not for club or championship racing. If you race, look at the FIA 8877-2022 items in the range.

Can I wear a kart suit for car racing?
No. Kart suits are built for abrasion protection, not fire protection, so they are never accepted for car racing, where FIA 8856 fire-resistant suits are required. The reverse also matters: a car race suit is not designed to slide down tarmac. Keep each to its own discipline, and see our race suit guide if you need the car side.

How do I wash it?
Kart suits are more forgiving than fireproof race suits: a cool machine wash on gentle, no bleach or softener, and air dry. Close all zips and Velcro first, or they chew the fabric of everything else in the drum.
