The standard way to receive audio in a Stilo circuit helmet is via earplugs. These muffs replace that with a pair of speaker earmuffs that plug directly into the helmet’s earplug socket. Audio from your team radio comes through the speakers in the muffs rather than through tiny earplug transducers, and the muffs themselves add noise attenuation on top of what the helmet shell already provides.
Before ordering, confirm your helmet has the earplug socket. Stilo’s circuit lids, the ST5 and ST6 series, have it as standard. The WRC and Trophy rally helmets use a different connection system, and these earmuffs will not fit them.
Where this makes practical sense over earplugs: in a very loud car where earplug audio output is too quiet to hear clearly, or when you find it easier to manage earmuffs than fitting earplugs under a tight helmet lining during a short service window. The muffs also make it straightforward to remove audio between sessions without pulling earplugs in and out repeatedly through the helmet padding.
At £132.50, these cost significantly more than earplugs. The premium covers the driver socket connection and the speaker drivers built into the muffs. Sold as a pair.
