Three small updates from Sparco have landed with us for 2026, and they are all colour rather than anything mechanical. Same boots, same underwear, same approvals, different options on the shelf. I am Cameron, and I look after racewear here.
Colour updates are usually the least interesting thing I get to write about. These three are worth a few minutes though, partly because one of them fixes something people have asked for repeatedly, and partly because there is a catch if you were planning to buy a matching set.
Nothing below changes the specification of any of these products. The approvals, the fabrics and the fits are exactly as they were. All the photography is our own.
The Slalom, now in white
The Slalom is our best selling boot in the shop, and the colour choice has just changed. White is the new one for 2026, and it arrives as Sparco run out the black and fluorescent yellow, which we have now taken off the site.
That leaves four: black, electric blue, red and the new white. It is the same boot underneath whichever you pick, suede upper, FIA 8856-2018 and SFI 3.3/5, with the thin sole and narrow profile that makes the Slalom work on a tight pedal box.
White is a bolder choice than it sounds. It looks superb on the shelf and it looks superb for about three events, after which it tells the story of every paddock you have walked across. If that bothers you, buy black. If it does not, the white is the best looking boot Sparco make at this money.

The RW-4 balaclava in black

The RW-4 balaclava is FIA 8856-2018 and it now comes in black as well as white. Straightforward enough, and it is the update I expect to be most popular, because the balaclava is the one piece of underwear anyone actually sees.
One thing worth being careful about, because these two sit next to each other on the site and are two pounds apart. The RW-4 Open Face Balaclava is the FIA 8856-2018 one, and that is the one now available in black. There is also an RW-4 Single Layer Balaclava which is not FIA homologated, and it is white only. If your car runs in a class where a balaclava is compulsory, and since January 2026 that covers Modified and above at speed events, you want the homologated one. The RW-4 long johns in black
Same story with the long johns. FIA 8856-2018, the relaxed RW-4 cut, and now a black option alongside the white.
This is the one I would take regardless of whether anyone sees it. White flame-resistant underwear looks superb for about two events and then spends the rest of its life looking tired, because it lives inside a suit and gets pulled on and off in a paddock. Black does the same job and still looks presentable at the end of a season. If you are replacing a set that has gone grey, you already know exactly what I mean.

Before you order a matching set
Here is the catch, and it is worth knowing before you put a set in the basket.
Black is only on those two pieces. The rest of the RW-4 range is still white only, so the long sleeve top and the socks come in white and nothing else. You cannot build a full black RW-4 set at the moment. What you can build is a black balaclava and black long johns with a white top, which under a done-up race suit nobody will ever see, but I would rather tell you now than have you open the box and wonder.
Worth noting on the same range while we are here: the RW-4 shorts are not FIA homologated. They are perfectly good for testing and track days, but if you are being scrutineered, the long johns are the ones you want.

What I would actually buy
If you want a boot that stands out, the new white Slalom is the one, and it is the same shape and the same approvals as the boot we sell more of than anything else. If you would rather it stayed looking new, take the black.
If you are replacing underwear, take both black pieces. The balaclava because it shows, the long johns because white ones age badly.
If you are buying your first set for a car that is going to be scrutineered, check the balaclava is the FIA 8856-2018 one before you check out.
Final thoughts
None of this changes how any of it performs. It is the same boot and the same underwear that were on the shelf last season, with a couple of options people have been asking for and one colourway on its way out.
