Sparco K-Pole Kart Boots Arrive In-Store

Two pairs of Sparco K-Pole kart boots have just arrived in the showroom and gone on display, one black and one blue, both in EU 42, UK 8. They can be tried on and compared with the race boots next to them.
We liked them straight out of the box. The materials feel good for the money, there is Sparco branding along the sides and on the heel, and the two-tone lace and ankle area gives them a smart look.

The K-Pole on our boot shelf
The K-Pole has joined our in-store boot collection, on the shelves alongside popular FIA race boots such as the Sparco Slalom and the OMP First S. That makes it easy to feel the difference between a kart boot and an FIA race boot in the hand.
Both pairs we have are EU 42, UK 8. The website has many more sizes and colours.
What the Sparco K-Pole is
The K-Pole is a mid-height kart boot aimed at drivers starting out in karting. The upper is perforated microfibre, which lets air through and keeps feet cooler over a day of sessions. Sparco redesigned the heel for better support, and elasticated bellows at the back give room to move.
The rubber sole is there for grip and feel on the pedals, and the external lace system holds the boot securely.
It is not FIA approved, so it cannot be used in events that ask for FIA homologated footwear. For karting, track days and fast road use it does the job well. Compared with ordinary trainers, a proper kart boot has a thinner sole, so there is far more feel through the pedals, and better grip on them too.

If you need an FIA approved boot
Racing boots are compulsory in most forms of motorsport, and for competition they need to carry the FIA 8856-2018 approval. Sparco’s entry level FIA boots are good value and carry that approval, with fire retardant linings.
The Slalom Plus takes its lead from the Sparco Slalom. It comes with a full suede upper or suede with fabric inserts for better breathability, a newer insole for comfort and fit, scuff resistant heels and toes, a breathable fire retardant lining, and an asymmetric thin lace closure. Garreth’s advice is to check your championship’s regulations first: if they ask for FIA footwear, go for a boot like the Slalom Plus; if not, the K-Pole will do. Are Sparco K-Pole kart boots FIA approved?
No. They suit karting, track days and fast road use, but not events that ask for FIA homologated footwear.

Why wear kart boots and not trainers?
