What has changed for 2023
Each Sparco kart boot on our site now shows the 2023 colour options, the current design and the details that matter when you are choosing: what the upper is made of, how it closes and what sort of sole it has.
The K-Formula is the one with news. It now comes in a black and fluorescent green colourway, new for 2023, which takes it to four colour options. Sizes run from UK 4 to UK 13, so most adult drivers are covered.
The K-Formula is the more premium of the two. It has a lightweight perforated upper to let the foot breathe, elasticated bellows at the back of the ankle, a thin rubber sole for pedal feel, a reinforced heel and a rotary lace system that closes quickly and evenly.
The K-Pole, for drivers starting out
The K-Pole is a mid-height kart boot at an accessible price, which makes it a sensible first boot for someone new to karting. The rubber sole gives good grip on the pedals and plenty of feel through the foot.
It is not FIA approved, so it suits club karting, practice and leisure karting, not championships that ask for FIA-rated footwear. Most club karting in the UK does not ask for that, but it is worth checking your own series rules first.

The waterproof K-Pole WP
Karting is an open-cockpit sport, and a wet session soon soaks a normal boot. The K-Pole WP is the waterproof version of the K-Pole, with a water-resistant upper and a sealed tongue to keep the foot dry, and a grippy sole for slippery conditions.
It is an alternative to rubber overshoes, which some drivers find loose on the pedals. Garreth’s advice is to think about how often you drive in the rain: if it is most weekends through the winter, a waterproof boot is worth having.
If you later move from karts into cars, most car racing needs FIA approved boots. Our guide to choosing FIA race boots explains the approvals and the fit.
