Sparco K-Formula Kart Boots Arrive In-Store
Karting news, October 2023
A pair of Sparco K-Formula kart boots has arrived in the showroom, in a bold yellow and black pattern. They are here to look at and try on, in size EU 40 (UK 6.5), and ready to send out or collect.
The K-Formula is Sparco's newest top-level kart boot. The headline feature is the rotary closure, which replaces laces with a dial you twist to tighten.

The rotary closure
The K-Formula does away with laces. A cable runs across the front of the boot to a dial at the top, and a twist of the dial pulls the whole boot in evenly. Loosen it and the boot opens up again, so getting in and out is quick.
The benefit shows at a kart meeting, where you are in and out of your boots between sessions. There is nothing to tie, and the fit is the same every time you do it up.

How the boot is made
The upper is a light perforated calfskin, which lets air through and feels soft on the foot. At the back are Sparco’s elasticated rear bellows, which let the ankle move freely while the boot stays secure, and the heel is reinforced to reduce ankle fatigue.
Inside is a light anatomic insole, and underneath a new rubber sole that is thin enough to feel the pedals and grips well. In a kart, where your feet are working the pedals the whole time, that feel matters.
Other Sparco boots we stock
The K-Formula sits at the top of our Sparco karting boots. The K-Pole is a popular choice too, and it comes in several versions, including one with a waterproof inner liner for wet days in an open cockpit.
For car racing, the Sparco Slalom+ is a good value boot approved to FIA 8856-2018. It takes its lead from the popular Slalom, comes with a full suede upper or suede with fabric inserts for breathability, and has scuff-resistant heels and toes.

Garreth’s advice with kart boots is to try them on with the socks you race in, and to check the sole is thin enough that you can feel the pedals clearly. Our guide on choosing race boots explains how approvals, sizing and pedal feel differ for car racing.
