Sparco K-Pole Kart Boots Arrive In-Store
Karting news, February 2023
A pair of Sparco K-Pole kart boots in black and yellow has just arrived in the showroom, and they are on display for 2023 so you can see them and try them on. The yellow runs down both sides, across the top and over the Sparco emblem on the heel, and it looks sharp against the black.
We have the pair in size UK 9 | EU 43, ready to go out or be collected. We have also finished updating our Sparco race boots for the new season, with a brand new boot and two new colours, so this post covers those too.

The Sparco K-Pole kart boot
The K-Pole is a mid-height kart boot, first brought out by Sparco in 2020, aimed at drivers starting out in karting. The upper is perforated microfibre, which lets air through and keeps the foot cooler across back-to-back sessions, and the heel has been reshaped for more support.
A rubber sole gives grip and feel on the pedals, elasticated bellows at the heel let the ankle move, and the external lacing holds the boot secure. It comes in a good spread of colours and sizes.

One thing worth knowing: the K-Pole is not FIA approved. That is fine for most club and leisure karting, but some championships ask for FIA rated footwear, so check your series rules first. Sparco also make a waterproof K-Pole WP with a waterproof inner liner, which is worth a look for open-cockpit racing in wet weather.
Our Sparco race boots, updated for 2023
We have been through every Sparco race boot listing ready for the new season. Each one now has up to date information, including prices, FIA approvals and safety features. The two main changes are a brand new model, the Prime Evo, and new fluorescent colours for two of the most popular Sparco boots.
New for 2023: the Sparco Prime Evo
The Prime Evo is Sparco’s new professional, mid-ankle race boot, released at the start of 2023 and now part of our Sparco range for the first time. Sparco built it to be the lightest boot in its range: the upper is soft kangaroo leather and the sole has a real carbon fibre plate inlaid from toe to heel. Sparco quotes 210 grams for a UK 8 | EU 42. It is approved to FIA 8856-2018 and comes in five colours, in sizes from UK 5.5 | EU 39 to UK 13 | EU 48.
We like the look of it, with the large single strap across the front and the subtle double stripe down the side.

New colours for the Slalom and X-Light
The Sparco Slalom now comes in black with fluorescent green stitching and a matching Sparco emblem on the side and front. The rest of the shoe is black suede with black laces. The Slalom is a suede racing shoe with a leather insole and a slim rubber sole that resists oil and fuel. We have the Slalom in black on display in the showroom to try on.
The Sparco X-Light gets a black and fluorescent yellow version, with yellow leather over the heel and a small section at the front, and white stripes along the black sides. The X-Light is a low-cut boot made from thin calfskin leather, with no tongue: an elasticated inner sock does that job, which saves weight and helps the fit. A side lace closure holds it close, and tougher leather around the heel helps it last.
Entry level Sparco boots
For drivers who want an FIA 8856-2018 boot without the top-of-range price, the Slalom and Slalom Plus and the Skid and Skid Plus are the ones to look at. The Slalom Plus is based on the Slalom, with a full suede upper or suede with fabric inserts for breathability, a new insole and scuff-resistant heels and toes. The Skid boots use abrasion-resistant inserts on the sides and heel and a breathable, flame-retardant lining.
Garreth’s advice is to try boots on in the socks you will race in, because race boots are meant to fit closer than everyday shoes. Our guide to choosing FIA race boots goes through approvals, sizing and pedal feel.
