A Mercedes owner will usually tell you they drive a W124 before they tell you what year it is. That is handy here, because the boss kit range splits along exactly those lines.
Thirty listings, and five MOMO parts cover almost all of them. MC6001 for the early seventies cars, ML6004 for the long run of classics from the W123 through to the W140, and MC6008R for everything modern, from an A Class to an S Class. B-G pick up the two the MOMO range does not.
So the chart below is arranged by chassis code rather than by year. Find yours, read the part number off it. One thing to know before you do: a four wheel drive W124 does not take the same hub as the rear wheel drive one.
Five MOMO parts cover nearly every Mercedes
MC6008R does most of the heavy lifting. Our listings put it on the A, C, E and S Class, the CLK and the SLK, the M Class and the GLE, the G Class in its modern form and the V Class van. That is eleven model lines and around thirty chassis codes on one part. It is a 21mm, 66 spline collapsible hub, and the spline count is the reason it reaches so far, because Mercedes carried the same column arrangement across the modern range.
Going back a generation, ML6004 covers the cars most people mean when they say classic Mercedes: the W123, the 190, the W124 E Class, the W126 and W140 S Class, the R129 SL and the early G Wagen. Before those, MC6001 takes the W114 and W115 along with the first S Class and SL.
It joins two different fittings
Your column has splines. The back of the wheel has a bolt pattern. The hub is the only part that speaks both.
It sets how far the wheel sits
The hub decides the distance from the dash, which changes your reach to the stalks and the clearance over your knees. Worth checking before you fit, especially on compact models such as the W201.
Nothing else to buy
The fixing screws, the Allen key and the horn button retaining ring are all in the box, so nothing stops you halfway through the job.
MC6008R covers most Mercedes from the early 1990s onward: the A, C, E, S, M and GLE Class, the CLK, CLS, SLK and the later G Wagen (W461 to W463). It sits on eleven of the twenty-four MOMO listings here.
The W124 E Class splits on drivetrain. Rear-wheel drive takes ML6004. The 4MATIC variant takes ML6005. That is the only drivetrain split across the whole Mercedes range. The B-G classic range (BG8388 and BG8389) covers the W111, W114, W115 and early W116 from 1959.
Two things are worth checking on the listing itself. The first is the 4MATIC badge. A W124 E Class takes ML6004, but the four wheel drive version of the same car, built in the same years, takes ML6005. It is the only place in the Mercedes range where the drivetrain changes the hub, and it is the easiest one here to get wrong.
The second is that several listings say all years rather than naming a range. Where a listing gives chassis codes, go by those, because they are more precise than the model name. Why one hub takes wheels from four different brands
Every MOMO, Sparco, OMP and Simoni wheel we sell bolts to the same pattern, six bolts on a 70mm circle. Your Mercedes column is splined and that spline pattern belongs to Mercedes, so the hub is the piece that converts one to the other. Once the right hub is on the car the wheel choice is wide open.
B-G drill their hubs twice, 6 x 70mm and 6 x 74mm, so a Nardi, Personal or Raid wheel bolts on as well as everything on the MOMO pattern. They are cast aluminium and made in Italy. MOMO drill for the 70mm pattern only.
On collapsible against solid the Mercedes range is unusually tidy. Every MOMO Mercedes hub we list is collapsible, and so is the B-G Smart Fortwo kit. The solid ones are the B-G G Class hub for pre-1982 cars and the three OMP kits. Each product page states which it is, so read that line rather than assuming it runs by brand.
The MOMO Mercedes hubs
Twenty four listings, five parts. Eleven of those listings are MC6008R under a different model name each time, seven are ML6004 and four are MC6001. Then one each: MC6002 for the R107 SL, and ML6005 for the 4MATIC W124.
Worth saying plainly, because it changes how you shop. If your car is on MC6008R you are not chasing a rare part, you are buying the most common hub MOMO make for a Mercedes.
The B-G, OMP and Sparco Mercedes hubs
B-G do two. BG8265 is the solid hub for the G Class before 1982, and BG8230 fits the Smart Fortwo W450, which sits at a higher price than anything else on this page.
OMP do three and Sparco one. Those four listings name the model loosely rather than by chassis code, so if one of them looks like yours, send us the chassis number and we will confirm the fitment before you order.
The G Class takes three different hubs
The G Wagen has been in production since 1979 and the hub changed twice along the way. A pre-1982 car takes the B-G BG8265. A W460 takes the MOMO ML6004. The W461, W462 and W463 take MC6008R, which is the same part as a modern C Class.
Three listings, three different parts, one model name. The two early ones overlap between 1979 and 1982, so if your G sits in there it is worth a quick check rather than a guess.

A quick release sits between the boss kit and the wheel, in the spot shown on the diagram further up the page. Press the collar, pull, and the wheel comes off in your hand. It locates in one position going back on, so the wheel returns straight every time.
Two reasons people fit one. The first is getting in and out, which matters more in a coupe or with a bucket seat fitted. The second is that a car sitting there with no steering wheel in it is a good deal less appealing to anyone who fancies driving it away.

Pair your Mercedes boss kit with a steering wheel
With the hub sorted the wheel choice is open, and anything on the 70mm pattern fits. On a W123 or a W126 a 380mm classic three spoke sits right with the driving position and with the large wheel these cars came with. On a 190 or a W124 most people drop to 350mm or 370mm. The steering gets a shade heavier at parking speeds and you gain room to get in and out.

Every wheel we list uses that same six bolt 70mm pattern, so once the hub is on the car you can change the wheel later without touching anything else.
Final thoughts
If you take one thing off this page, make it the chassis code. Nearly every Mercedes here is covered by MC6008R, ML6004 or MC6001, and once you know which of those three your car sits on the rest is straightforward.
