The B-G Racing Weld-On 6-Point Quick Release is a dedicated competition unit for race cars with no standard steering wheel boss kit available, or where the regulations require an FIA-compliant quick release. The system fully conforms to current FIA technical specifications.
The hub body is machined from aircraft grade aluminium with a hard anodised inner splined hub for durability where wear matters most. A 20mm steel splined shaft attaches to the hub and must be welded to the steering column. Shaft diameter choices are 5/8 inch (16mm) at 340g complete, or 3/4 inch (19mm) at around 360g. The two shaft sizes are cross-compatible with the hub body, so you can move the hub to another car without buying a new shaft.
A master spline positions the wheel to exactly the same point each time you engage it. On a competition car where you routinely remove the wheel to get in and out, knowing the wheel is straight without looking down saves time in the pits.
The system fits six-bolt steering wheels with a 6x70mm or 6x74mm PCD, covering most Momo, Sparco, OMP, Nardi and Personal competition wheels. Finished in black anodising with yellow powder coat.
The weld-on fitting is a permanent installation, unlike a bolt-on quick release. If you want a quick release you can move easily between cars, or one that doubles as anti-theft on a road vehicle, the bolt-on BG4921 is the alternative. A 12-month warranty covers manufacturing faults.
