The Complete B-G and MOMO Talbot Steering Wheel Hub Guide
Talbot is almost entirely a B-G range, twenty six hubs against one from MOMO, and it has a quirk worth understanding before you order. I am Cameron, I look after the steering wheel side of things at GSM Performance.
Seven Talbots appear twice in the range. The Sunbeam, the 1100, the 1510 and 1610, the Bagheera, the Murena, the Rancho and the Lotus each have a listing on BG8204 and another on BG8346, at the same money. That is not a mistake in the catalogue. BG8204 is a collapsible design and BG8346 is a solid one, so you are choosing between two hubs that both fit, not two listings for one part.
BG8346 is also the workhorse. Fifteen Talbot listings run on it, from the Horizon and the Samba through most of the Simca line to the Solara and the Tagora.
The in-car photograph in this guide is an AI illustration, generated from our own MOMO product photography so the wheel and its horn button are the real thing.
Why you need a B-G or MOMO boss kit
An aftermarket wheel will not bolt onto a Talbot column on its own. The column has splines, the back of the wheel has a bolt pattern, and the boss kit is the part that joins the two. It also sets how far the wheel sits from the dash, which decides your reach to the indicator stalks and the clearance over your knees.
B-G machine theirs from cast aluminium in Italy and put the fixing screws, the Allen key and the horn button retaining ring in the box, so nothing is missing halfway through the job. Every B-G hub is drilled twice, for 6 x 70mm and 6 x 74mm.
It joins two different fittings
Your column has splines. The back of the wheel has a bolt pattern. The hub is the only part that speaks both.
It sets how far the wheel sits
The hub decides the distance from the dash, which changes your reach to the indicator stalks and the clearance over your knees.
Nothing else to buy
The fixing screws, the Allen key and the horn button retaining ring are all in the box, so nothing stops you halfway through the job.
Talbot inherited the Simca and Matra ranges, and the listings still carry both names, so search on either. The Bagheera is listed as both Talbot Baghera and Talbot Simca-Matra Bagheera, the Rancho as both Rancho and Simca-Matra Ranch, and the Sunbeam appears under Talbot Sumbeam as well. Those are the same cars.
Where a car has two listings, the choice is the hub design rather than fitment. BG8204 is collapsible, BG8346 is solid, and a solid hub is what most track and competition cars run. Everything else in the range has one part and no decision to make.
Steering wheel installation explained
So how does a Sparco wheel end up on a MOMO hub? Because nearly every aftermarket motorsport wheel is drilled to the same pattern, six bolts on a 70mm circle, written as 6 x 70mm PCD. MOMO, Sparco, OMP, Simoni Racing and the Mountney M-Range all use it. The hub is chosen by your car, the wheel is chosen by you, and nothing locks you into one brand.

How each brand drills its hubs
The Talbot B-G boss kit range
Twenty six B-G Talbot hubs, all at the same money and all dual drilled. This is the complete list, covering the Talbot badged cars and the Simca and Matra models that came with them.
BG8346 carries fifteen of them. BG8204 is the collapsible alternative on seven cars. The rest are one-offs: BG8349 for the Simca 1000 Rally 1, BG8347 and BG8348 for the 1967 to 1969 and 1969 to 1971 Simca 1100, and BG8281 for the Simca 1301 Special and 1501.
The Samba, and the one MOMO Talbot hub
MOMO list one Talbot hub and it is the Samba from 1985, ML6807. It is a collapsible design drilled 6 x 70mm.
That makes the Samba the only Talbot where the answer depends on the year rather than the design you prefer. Up to 1985 it is the B-G hub on BG8346, and from 1985 it is the MOMO. Both are shown here side by side so you can see which one your car falls under.
Explore our full range of B-G and MOMO boss kits
The links here run a live search across the store, so they stay current as the range moves. There are no OMP or Sparco Talbot hubs, so between B-G and MOMO you are seeing everything we hold. Search Simca and Matra as well as Talbot, because several of these cars are listed under all three names. If your car is not showing up at all, ask, and send the chassis number over so we can match it properly.

B-G Racing
26 Talbot hubs
Dual drilled and made in Italy. BG8346 alone carries fifteen listings across the Simca and Matra models.

MOMO

One hub, ML6807 for the Samba from 1985. Collapsible and drilled 6 x 70mm.

A quick release sits between the boss kit and the wheel and lets you pull the wheel off the column in a second. Two reasons people fit them. Getting in and out past a fixed wheel in a caged car is awkward, and a wheel that comes off with you is a wheel nobody can drive away with.
B-G Racing do four. The universal and the standard bolt-on versions suit most road and track cars and need nothing modifying. The weld-on 3-point and 6-point are for a car where the column is being cut and welded anyway. All four take the same 6 x 70mm wheels as everything else on this page.

Pair your boss kit with a high performance steering wheel
Once the hub is sorted the wheel is entirely your choice. These are the ones I would put in a Talbot, and I have kept it period because these cars suit it.
In a Sunbeam Lotus or a Simca 1000 Rally the Prototipo is the obvious pick and looks like it belongs. The Montecarlo and the Retro suit a Solara or a Tagora with an original interior. If the car is being used on track, the Sparco 345 or the OMP Corsica gives you a smaller, quicker rim.

Every wheel we sell is drilled 6 x 70mm, so any of them will bolt to any of the hubs above. The only real decision is diameter and dish, which changes how heavy the steering feels and how close the rim sits to your chest.
Final thoughts
Talbot is well covered once you know that seven of the cars give you a choice between a collapsible and a solid hub, and that BG8346 answers the question for most of the rest. The part is cheap next to the wheel, and getting it right is mostly a case of deciding which design you want.
If you are stuck between the two listings for your car, drop us a line and ask for me. Send the chassis number over and I will tell you which one suits before you spend anything.
