The New 2025 Alpinestars ZX Evo V3 Underwear Range Now Available
Racewear news, August 2025
Alpinestars have updated their ZX Evo underwear for 2025, and the new ZX Evo V3 range is now on the site. It takes over from the ZX Evo V2 pieces we have sold for the last few seasons, with a new fabric, a refreshed design and a fluorescent yellow option alongside black and white.
The range covers the three layers most drivers need under a race suit: a balaclava, a long sleeve top and bottoms. Every piece is approved to FIA 8856-2018 and to SFI 3.3.

What has changed from the V2
The biggest change is the fabric. The V3 pieces are made with Lenzing FR, a flame-resistant viscose fibre, knitted in a diamond-pattern jacquard mesh. The mesh lets air through and gives the fabric its stretch, so it sits close to the skin without feeling tight.
The top and bottoms use a tubular, seam-free body, which removes the side seams that can press into you when you are strapped in tight. The collar seams on the top are placed to keep contact points to a minimum. The fabric is built to draw sweat away from the skin, which is what keeps you comfortable on a hot day in a closed car.
The new colour for 2025 is fluorescent yellow on the long sleeve top, next to the usual black and white.
The three pieces
Balaclava. One size, with flat seams so it does not add pressure points under a tight helmet, and a mouth opening that takes a drink tube.
Long sleeve top. In black, white or fluorescent yellow, in three size bands: XS-S, M-L and XL-XXL.
Bottoms. In black or white, in the same three size bands, with the same seam-free construction as the top.

Add a pair of fire-resistant socks and you have the full base layer under your suit. The Alpinestars ZX Evo V4 socks are the ones we pair with this range.

Why the underwear matters
An FIA suit is only part of the protection. The layer underneath adds insulation between the suit and your skin, and in a fire that extra layer buys time. Many championships ask for approved underwear, a balaclava and socks along with the suit, so check your own regulations for what is required.
Garreth’s advice is to buy underwear for comfort as much as for the label. You wear it for the whole day, so a close fit that does not bunch under the belts is worth having. Our guide to FIA fireproof underwear explains what you need under a race suit, and our racewear care guide covers washing it so the fabric lasts.
