The Complete B-G and MOMO Land Rover Steering Wheel Hub Guide

Land Rover coverage splits by brand in a way that catches most people by surprise. I am Cameron, I look after the steering wheel side of things here at GSM Performance, and every hub on this page is one we hold and have the fitment notes for.

The thing most people find when they start searching is that B-G makes nothing for the Defender. All eight B-G Land Rover hubs are for the Range Rover Classic or the Discovery, and if a search brings you here looking for a 90 or a 110 that is why. MOMO and OMP between them cover the Defender, and the year of the truck matters. OMP has four dated windows from 1988 through to 1998 and then 2012 onward. MOMO stocks two undated hubs alongside the dated 2015-onward listing.

Work from the year the vehicle was built and the model, and the chart on this page will get you to the right column. The photograph is an AI illustration generated from our own product photography.

Why you need a B-G or MOMO boss kit

An aftermarket wheel will not bolt onto a Land Rover column on its own. The boss kit is the part that makes it possible, and it does three jobs at once.

It joins two different fittings

Your column has splines. The back of the wheel has a bolt pattern. The hub is the only part that speaks both.

It sets how far the wheel sits

The hub decides the distance from the dash, which changes your reach to the stalks and clearance over your knees. In a Defender cab that inch of extra reach is worth thinking about before you decide on depth.

Nothing else to buy

The fixing screws, the Allen key and the horn button retaining ring are all in the box, so nothing stops you halfway through the job.

For the Range Rover Classic, match the year to the chart below. B-G splits it into five windows from pre-1983 through to 1995, one hub per span.

For the Defender, the year matters most. OMP covers 1988-1991, 1992-1995, 1996-1998 and 2012 onward. MOMO stocks two undated Defender hubs (MK5607 and MA5805) alongside the dated 2015-onward MK5602. If your truck falls between the OMP windows, drop us the registration and we will confirm the fit.

Steering wheel installation explained

So how does a Sparco wheel end up on a MOMO hub? Because nearly every aftermarket motorsport wheel is drilled to the same pattern, six bolts on a 70mm circle, written as 6 x 70mm PCD. MOMO, Sparco, OMP, Simoni Racing and the Mountney M-Range all use it. The hub is chosen by your car, the wheel is chosen by you, and nothing locks you into one brand.

Which hub for which Land Rover?

The Range Rover and Discovery follow a clean sequence. B-G covers each generation in order, one hub per window. The Defender is the complicated one: five dated hubs from two makers, each covering a specific span of its 33-year production run. A gap runs from 1999 to 2012 in the dated listings. MOMO stock two undated Defender hubs (MK5607 and MA5805) that likely fill it, but the listings do not state years. Bars that fade at one end carry an open fitment: the listing says onward, not a specific cut-off.

The B-G Land Rover boss kit range

Eight solid hubs cover the Range Rover Classic and the Discovery Series 1 and 2. All eight are dual drilled, which means they take both the 4x100mm and 4x130mm wheel bolt patterns, the two layouts that come up most often when you are shopping classic steel or aftermarket wheels. None of them cover the Defender, which uses a different column spline. If it is a Defender you are fitting, the MOMO and OMP section below is where you need to be.

The MOMO and OMP Land Rover hubs

Five MOMO hubs and ten from OMP, between them covering the Defender, the Discovery and the Freelander. OMP covers four Defender windows: 1988-1991, 1992-1995, 1996-1998 and 2012 onward. There is a gap from 1999 to 2011 in the dated listings. MOMO stock MK5607 and MA5805 as undated Defender hubs and those likely fill it, but the listings do not commit to years. If you are in that window, send us the registration and we will confirm the fit before you order.

Two of the MOMO hubs also appear on other make pages on the site. MC4905 (Dia 15.5mm 29-spline) also fits the Rover 200 and 400 and the Honda Civic and Concerto. MK4928R (Freelander) also fits the MG MGF and the Rover 25, 200, 400 and 600. They are the same parts, not duplicates.

Explore the Land Rover range

The button below shows the full MOMO Land Rover range filtered to boss kits, so it stays current as stock moves. Between MOMO and OMP there are 23 Land Rover hubs on the site. B-G and OMP do not have a filtered search that returns only Land Rover results, so we have not linked those here.

Why not add a steering wheel quick release kit

A quick release sits between the boss kit and the wheel and lets you pull the wheel off the column in a second. In a Defender that pays off every time you get in and out, because the steering column sits close to the door aperture on early trucks. A wheel that comes off with you is also a wheel nobody can drive away with.

B-G Racing quick releaseFittingSuits
UniversalBolt-onMost road and track cars, nothing to modify
StandardBolt-onThe same job in the heavier duty version
Weld-On 3-PointWeld-onA column that is already being cut and welded
Weld-On 6-PointWeld-onAs above, with the stiffer six bolt fixing

All four take the same 6 x 70mm wheels as the boss kits on this page, so the wheel you choose below will fit whichever quick release you pick.

Pair your boss kit with a high performance steering wheel

Once the hub is sorted the wheel is entirely your choice. On a Defender people tend to go one of two ways, either a small diameter wheel that gives more room to move in the cab or a clean leather spoke that sits quietly with the interior. These are the ones I would put in a Defender or a Range Rover.

Every wheel we sell is drilled 6 x 70mm, so any of them will bolt to any of the hubs above. The only real decision is diameter and dish, which changes how heavy the steering feels and how close the rim sits to your chest.

Final thoughts

Land Rover coverage splits by model and that catches most people out. B-G stops at the Range Rover Classic and the Discovery Series 2 and does not make a Defender hub at all. If you have been browsing by brand and wondering why nothing comes up for a 90 or a 110, that is why.

For the Defender, the year matters. OMP covers most of the 33-year production run in four dated blocks and MOMO fills the gaps with two undated listings. If you are not sure which block your truck falls into, send the registration over and we will confirm the fit before you order anything.
