The OMP helmet net, holding up to two helmets, with adjustable straps. Part number OMPNA1858.
Why a net rather than a box
Weight and space, in that order. A rigid helmet box in a rally car takes up cockpit volume you do not have and adds weight where you do not want it. A net attaches to the cage and holds the helmets against it.
It also lets air circulate round the helmets between stages, which a closed box does not. A helmet that has been worn for a stage is wet inside, and a sealed box keeps it that way until you put it back on.
Two helmets
Driver and co-driver, which tells you what it is designed around. On a rally the helmets come off between stages and have to go somewhere secure that is not the footwell.
Fitting
It attaches to roll cage tubing and the straps adjust for height, so you can set it where you can actually reach it while belted in. That is worth thinking about before you fit it rather than after.
