The Sparco K-Rookie (part BKG0001B0) is the entry point in their kart glove range.

The shell is a stretchable fabric with a pre curved finger design, which positions the hand in a more natural grip shape from the start rather than requiring a few sessions to break in. The synthetic leather palm carries a silicone grip pattern for consistent hold on the wheel in wet or sweaty conditions.

These are not homologated, and that is the point of them

The K-Rookie carries no FIA or CIK approval. It is a practice and club glove, and it is priced as one.

That makes it the right buy for arrive and drive, testing, practice sessions and any club running where the regulations do not call for approved hand protection. It is not the right buy if your series specifies homologated gloves, and no amount of the right material makes an unapproved glove pass. The K-Attack is the step up within the Sparco range if you need the approval.

If you are not sure which side of that line your class sits on, tell us the series and we will read the wording with you before you spend anything.

Sizes and colours

Sizes run from XXS to XXL. The availability of XXS and XS makes this one of the more accessible adult styled options for junior drivers or lighter handed adults who regularly find standard XS adult sizing too large.

Black and red, black and white, black and blue, or black and fluorescent yellow.

For a junior who will outgrow the gloves within a season, or a driver who needs a spare pair for wet sessions, this is the practical starting point.

Karting glove size guide

Kart gloves are all sold in letters, and the letters do not mean the same thing at each brand. An Alpinestars M and a Sparco XS fit the same hand. One measurement sorts it out.

Measure your palm

1Around the knucklesAcross the widest part of the palm, at the base of the fingers. Leave the thumb out.
2Loose fistClosed just enough that the hand is in a driving shape.
3Dominant handUsually the slightly bigger one, and gloves come as a pair in one size.

Your size in each brand

Palm (cm) Numeric Sparco OMP Alpinestars
18 – 19 6 XXXS 3XS
19 – 20.5 7 XXS 2XS
20.5 – 21.5 8 XS XS M
21.5 – 22.5 9 S S L
22.5 – 23.5 10 M M L / XL
23.5 – 24.5 11 L L / XL XL
24.5 – 25 12 XL XL XXL
25 – 25.5 13 XXL XXL XXL

Sparco and OMP put their letter row two steps up the numeric ladder, so their XS is a numeric 8. Alpinestars map letters straight onto it, so their M is that same numeric 8. That is why the Alpinestars column sits two letters higher all the way down.

The Tech 1-KX V4 is also sold in XS. Alpinestars publish measurements for S to XXL only, so ring us with your palm measurement for the XS rather than working it out from the S row.

Small hands and junior driversSparco and OMP go down to XXS, which is a 19 to 20.7 cm palm, and that is the smallest kart glove on the site. Alpinestars stop at S. If you are buying for a child measure first, because below about 19 cm none of these will fit properly and we would rather tell you that before you order.

How a kart glove should fit

Tight, with no slack in the palm

Any spare material rolls up under your hand on the rim and you lose feel through the wheel, which is the whole point of wearing them. Slightly tight when new is usually right. Leather and suede give a little over the first few sessions; a knitted or stretch fabric glove does not, so buy that one to fit on day one.

Wet weather gloves go over nothing

The Sparco K-Tide, OMP Rain-K and Alpinestars Tempest are wet gloves worn on their own, not over a dry pair. Size them the same as your normal gloves rather than going up.

Standards

FIA 8877-2022 is the current kart clothing standard. Gloves marked Non-CIK or Non-FIA are practice, wet weather or arrive-and-drive gloves. Both appear in this category, so check the approval on the product if you are running in a championship.

Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Introducing the Sparco K-Rookie Kart Gloves for the 2026 Karting Season. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.

What size should I order?
Sizes run from XXS to XXL. Measure around your palm at the knuckles and go snug: kart steering is all feel, and loose material between you and the wheel costs grip. Junior sizes are in the range for young drivers, and we will happily confirm sizing from a measurement.

Are they legal for competition karting?
These gloves are not homologated for competition karting, which makes it the right price for practice, corporate events, and rental driving, but not for club or championship racing. If you race, look at the FIA 8877-2022 items in the range.

What makes a kart glove different from a race glove?
Grip and abrasion rather than fire. Kart gloves put silicone or reinforced material on the palm for an unassisted wheel and are built to survive contact with tarmac, while car racing gloves are fire-resistant and FIA 8856 homologated. Our racing gloves guide covers the car side if you need both.
